Hello what happens when the children got to college? do they come back? also since they have all left my couple who are now getting on a bit are not having anymore kids is there something i can do?

When one of or both the parents dies you will have the chance to pick which of the children will inherit the house. When the time comes you'll get a message from the game explaining how, and you'll be able to scroll through the children to pick which one.
