We are opening the VV4 forums before the game is out. You can discuss the sneak peak images and what not, here in this forum.

It will not be long before we release the game. (We are getting very close to a date!)

Hey this is great. I have never been through a release of a new game here so I hope that the opening of this forum has some significance as I am finding it harder and harder to wait. The sneak peeks have been awesome and tantalizing.

I expect Carla has opened the new forum early because when the game actually ships she'll be very busy and won't have time to do it then.

I seem to find myself surfing to the LDW forums almost trice a day! I can't wait! Its been a while since I've been so exited about a single game launch! Last time must have been for the launch of D&D 4th ed. Its almost as if the party and ecxitement jumps of the screen and into my brain!

I think I will take the day off work when they give us a release date! The anticipation is killing me, I check here several times a day - yeah I actually believe each time I come here it's going to be available - LOL. I love what I see in the screenshots, and know there are many more fun things to discover! Ugh, I feel like a child on Christmas Eve or something!

I am glad I am not the only one that is having these feelings. I have been going to the site every hour on the hour. I can not wait I think bfunky123 has the right idea.

I can assure you that the moderators will be working VERY hard to prevent this scenario. While the forum will be open for posting without approval, don't be surprised to see duplicate posts moved and/or deleted. Also be aware that as many off topic posts as we can find will be deleted from the thread without notification.

If you don't see your post, 1st check to see if it has been moved to a thread that already addresses the issue. If you still can't find it, try going to "My Stuff" and viewing your posts. If it has been moved, this should take you to where it is. If it says something like post not found, then you can assume it has been deleted for some reason.

Since I have more "free time" than the other moderators/admins you should address pm's on this issue to me. I will respond to all pm's in as timely a manner as I can.

Well, I'm not Carla, but I think I can answer your question. I was just reading Gamezebo's preview of the game, and here's what it says:

From the sneak peak pictures and Rockies information, it looks as though this one is going to be a beautiful baby and lots of fun to play with

finally, it's time for vv4 to release. yayyy

The only other game I was here for is VF, so this is my second game launch, but im so excited it feels like my first!

I hope you can build it with less research this time. I never could figure out why my little villagers struggled so much; I mean, they already have the technology know-how to make clothes and individual outfits, otherwise they'd be all wearing the same thing (Hey, they start off knowing how to build huts as well, so why is it so complicated to put huts and clothes together? :S)

How close is close to the release date? I hope it means next week. This is my seconed game launch too esther1981.

i too have never experienced the release of a game here on ldw so im very excited and im guessing that the forum being opened means we are very close! thank you carla arthur and team for working hard and putting up with us all bugging you about this game!

This is my first game launch as a member!
I was so excited i did not go to sleep until 5 in the morning (only woke up 10 mids. ago)

Do you think that there will be day and night in VV4? In the Technology screen at the top of the big tree thing there is a picture of the moon and the sun...

I think there is going to be nigt and day. In the forum with the newest pictures of VV4 I think I said something like what you said if that makes any sense. Sorry if I am confusing.

Ldw has always filled the detail screen. So this raises the question: what is behind the select and reject buttons? Also, how large is the map? It seems like it's going to be big.

What will a normal detail screen look like? The select/reject button only appears when you are selecting villagers at the beginning of the game (see "What's your idea of the ideal tribe")

Yes, but what will take it's place? I see nothing missing from the rest of the detail screen.

I wonder if there will be new special plants. The ones that you used for potions in vv3.

I think there really is night and day. The Science tech shows building a telescope. The construction tech shows people building a hut that has lights amidst the dark.

Well that and screenie from the story shows nightime

I'm waiting for the game launch AND a baby!!! I'm 8 months pregnant with a little girl! LOL.

The telescope could just be a symbol that means gaining tech points faster. Just have to wait till it comes out.

No, Jamie, you can't see stars during day, except the sun and some others.

In the past VV's the science tech only showed sketches of formulas or scientific stuff, but this time it's buiulding a telescope.

Plus, the lighted huts amidst the dark in the first screenie and the construction tech shows proof that there really is night and day.

I don't think this is the detail screen we will use in the game. Since it has the Select/Reject buttons, I'm assuming it is the screen where we will be able to pick our starting tribe. Does that make sense?

And I have noticed that she does have some experience in all areas maybe except building so thats good to know too.

Rockmower, I think you're totally right. VF gave us the option of choosing our "starting" person. How wonderful that/if VV4 gives us the option of choosing 5 of our beginning peeps!!

All the bars are filled the same. The wire on the building tab sticks out a little farther making it look like less.



You never seen a game or movie make it look like something else. I am not saying there won't be night or day. Just saying don't put all your eggs into one basket.

Oh I can't wait!!!! My dad sent me money for my birthday and I'm saving it for this game! Why does time seem to move so slowly when you're waiting? lol All of the previews are so cool. You guys do such a great job! It explains why so many of us are so loyal. I have all of the games for PC except for Fish Tycoon. (Not really big on fish) I can't wait to add this one to my collection!

Like my previous words, i just can't wait. I keep start over and playing VV series, and still wonder and wondering. I read Gamezebo previews about VV4, and it says that the island chief worried that the life on the island is slowly diminishing on the island and the chief selected a tribe of explorers to explore the source of Isola's troubles. They discover, and inevitably populate, the oldest and most hidden part of the island - the eastern shore. There, they'll uncover mysteries, unravel the story of Isola, and save the Tree of Life.

Wow, these teasers were driving me crazy!!! I will check back 5 days after i posted this, and hoping for release date or the GAME!!!! I will check back on Sunday, February 21st!

on the screenshots where you can see the food mastery tech it shows food that looks like coconuts chopped in half but they are red - does any1 know what these are or do you reckon they are made up? (incase you havent noticed ive been analysing the screenshots!)

My guess is they represent some kind of fruit but not an actual food that will be in the game. On the Tech screens for all the games, the graphics tend be more a representation of what will be gained rather than the item it's self.

As an example, if you look at the tech screen for VV3 The Restoration bar shows a hammer; saw and nails but these never appear in the game. In VV2 the medicine tech bar shows a mortar and pestle, but again they appear nowhere in the game.

I could come up with lot's more examples, but these are 2 pretty obvious ones that most people can verify.

actually they are on a bush and probably are meant to be raspberries at least that is what they look like to me but as rockmower has said they probably only represent the food tech and probably won't show up in the game itself.

How long does beta testing take? jeez this game better be well worth the wait. I love all 3 other ones but don't think it took them this long to release it after announcing they were making it. I am getting very impatient and antsy.

Well, we have to remember that for the other VV games, Arthur and Carla didn't have a new baby to keep track of at the same time as the release!

wow, been away from the sight for sometime now, I just thought I would check in and am I glad I did. It appears I have timed it perfect. A new VV4 due to be released soon? Yeah I am so stoked. I have been of facebook playing Farmville, good game, but nothing takes the place of VV. I guess my little farm will have to shut down for a while. lol.

The answer is "Until it's finished". No-one, not even Arthur, knows. It all depends on the number and seriousness of the bugs found during the testing.

rockmower you're probably right about the food im really intrigued about the trophies tab i cant wait to see what you have to do to get the trophies - i hope theres alot like VF

LDW, please take your time beta testing VV4. We don't want it rushed to us, only to find it buggy. Once again, please take your time! We can be patient (i think)

I live in the forums now too, i come several times a day to see if VV4 is out of Beta.My husband is strting to panic if i'm like this now what will he do when the game is out no more food etc unless he turns into a villager!!!! Please Please make it soon not another month no I'll go MAD !!!!!!!!!

would like to see the villagers to be able to tame animals and use them for work and play. Use the rope to catch and retain them

mmmmmm. Yummy muffins and I love hot chocolate. Welcome Rockmower. The rope hmmmmm, that is a good question but I think it has something to do with the bamboo poles on ropes attached to the rocks...may need to use it to attach another bamboo pole to the 3rd rock formation that is visible on the other screenie but not on the closeup one of the dock.

I think that might be right. Could the rope be for catching animals? And is the blocked part of the waterfall something that has to be cleared? Maybe if it is cleared it gives the tree water. And the skeleton on the beach looks like a whark.(it's from the game Riven. It looks like a whale with tusks and a long, ridged back with a short tail.) I wonder if they use the bones for tools. Can the villagers jump off the waterfall like a waterslide?(even better than a pool party! )I think that maybe there is a secret in the tree of life, and the villagers need it to survive. I also wonder if they leave their happy home because of over population?

going to sleep for at least 48 hours, so when I wake up it won't be long yeh monday can't come quick enough.

I guess I missed something. Did someone say VV4 will be out on Monday? I am unable to watch the video (see my post in the other thread) so maybe that is where the date of release is given.

I'm just hoping it's out before we head back to Alaska in April. My internet is too slow up there to download anything.

From what Arthur has said it will be available today, or maybe in the next day or so if they encounter last-minute problems. I think we can safely assume it will be out by April!

i think it will be out today i read the interview with arthur (in gen disc) and he said that it wasnt his intention that it was to be released tomorrow or the day after so fingers crossed!
