But suppose it is from the start of the game and those are the villagers that inhabited that portion of the island before our new tribes arrival and our new tribe has buried them.


That thought is nicer than what I suspect might actually account for the children in the mausoleum. I suspect that either one of their trial tribes died en masse or that a tribe was allowed to die in order to test the mausoleum's programming (and show us greedy fans a screenshot depicting what the mausoleum will look like after we have a few villagers in it of course. smile )
