Just thought I'd drop by and let everyone know about the small Pow-wow I recently had with Arthur. http://bit.ly/6Ti3Gv

It's mostly talking shop about game design and casual/independent games, so it may bore some of you, but I still thought I'd post it for those interested. wink

We discuss a bunch of issues on game design and the casual and independent market. What always amazes me about Arthur is his thorough knowledge of the industry and his intense *passion* for making games. What an awesome guy smile

Thanks again for your time Arthur! Keep up the good work!

I'll enjoy listening to this. It's a pity about all the background noise - had to turn up quite loud to hear you both speaking, then my son decided to watch some Super Mario vids on YouTube smile Guess I'll have to wait for a quieter time to listen to the rest.

Thanks for listening slh smile Or... attempting to listen. Sorry about the low volume levels. smirk I was in a bit of a rush to get them up and didn't to the normal EQ and boosting I should have done.

I also have a bad habit of leaving recordings at lower levels so I don't do the opposite and end up blasting people's ear drums off wink

If there is enough interest, I can go back to it and clean up the noise and boost the levels when I get back to Phoenix tomorrow.

In any case, any son who watches Super Mario vids on Youtube is a friend of mine smile

Glad you enjoyed it Caristiona smile

Yes, I thought Arthur's explanation of recent life experiences seeping into your game design was really interesting (and true!).

The interview was interesting! laugh

The interesting part was the economy and the decline of the game prices. $6.99 games, i thought only BFG did it.

The story about BFG and Fish Tycoon was interesting as well!

I'm happy you thought it was interesting, Lukerie laugh

I was really shocked by the BFG story, I had no idea it was so hard for LDW to get FT accepted by BFG as it was (if I could fit more acronyms in that sentence I would). I was also amazed at Arthur's persistence! smile I can only agree with him that the persistence surely paid off and everyone wins because of that.

It works for me, although as already mentioned the recording volume is too low.

Apologies for the site being down for a few minutes earlier today. My host's 99% uptime isn't exactly what they promise wink

I'll try normalizing the volume tomorrow on the main interview when I get time.

Okay, I normalized the volume so it is much more audible now. I didn't have time to do much EQ fishing so there is still a bit of background noise, but it's much more listenable than it was. smile

Glad you enjoyed it invalidthirteen smile

Arthur would fit right in on most talk shows simply because he is so charismatic and candid, of which I'm quite envious.

If I were to appear on any talk shows, they would have to censor out half of my language and possibly sell the deleted scenes on a DVD release later. :P

I just got a chance to listen to the interview.
I found it very interesting, especially the Fish Tycoon story.
Im glad that Arthur was so persistant because thats how I found out about the VV games.
Are there any Hidden Object games you do like? :P
I have to admit I like the Ravenhurst Hidden Object Games, shall I hang my head in shame now.LOL.

I actually do enjoy a few of the hidden object games. Not necessarily for the gameplay, but I do enjoy the ones which have really good production and a story involved. I really like the design and atmosphere in Curse of the Pharaoh. The Ravenhurst games look nice, although I haven't played more than a demo, if I recall, they actually had pretty decent voice acting as well.
