Hey there, I'm Kayla. I played VV on a friend's computer a month ago and became instantly addicted to it, so I downloaded it from Amazon yesterday. I'm up to 2 Master Scientists and a Master Farmer already, with everyone else being Adept at at least 2 skills. I had a couple of questions, though, and I was wondering if you guys could help me out.

I've read in these forums about saving the game, so that in case your villagers die, you can go back to how they were before you left. Does anyone know, step-by-step, how to do that on Windows Vista? I've seen a few hints about it, like changing your save slot, but I don't know how to begin.

Also, I know that by pressing F6, you can change your villagers clothes. It works, but once you go through all of the outfits, it stops, with a green oufit for women and a black-and-white oufit for men. Can you tell me how to go back through the list of clothes, so that I don't get stuck with everyone in those last outfits?

Thank you,

K.

Welcome! I hope you're enjoying Virtual Villagers! laugh

The savegame files are stored in the game's application folder in Program Files and can be easily backed up. I have written step-by-step procedures for backing them up, which you can see here in our Support FAQ. You should know, however, that Windows Vista implements a security feature that can interfere with putting the files back into the game folder if you do decide to restore the game. You can read about this situation at the bottom of this post, which also deals with copying files into the game folder. Look for the heading "Special note for Windows Vista users."

Using F6 to change the villagers' clothing is possible because a developer code that was used for testing was inadvertently left in the game when it shipped. You can read more about that issue in this thread, and Arthur had this to say about it when it was first discovered by players:

LOL. and OOPS.

I guess it's an easter egg. I don't think you can change it back, so be careful or you'll have your entire tribe in a green dress.
