This is my first family and was surprised when I logged in today and found my little person with her hair going prematurely gray! She's only 46 years old and has spent most of her adult life in the bathroom while her husband did all the cooking and cleaning. I only noticed the gray because she and her daughter, who looks just like her, were together on the computer and the daughter's hair is still colorful in comparison. I suppose this means by tomorrow she will be passing away? I'm so sad now. I just started this family a few days ago and they are aging so quickly! How long does a family last? Two or three days at most?

Don't worry! They all get grey hair at the age of 45. smile They should have a lot of time left in the game.

If you really want to make sure they stay around for a long time, praise them when they exercise, give them vitamins, fruits hand gel and try to keep the fridge full of food for when you close the game. I always try to get their health bars all the way up.

In this game, 60 is a long life for them but in the first generation they tend to go in their late 50's since we didn't get to buy them a lot of the things that help.

best of luck with them, I love the hairstyles!

As for how long a family will last, 7 years go by in the game in 24 hours of our time. They age by one year about every 3 and a half hours. You should have at least 2 more days with her or something if my calculations are correct. smile Just remember that no matter how well we treat them, they all have their time to go.. so if she passes before the 2 days I predicted, don't blame yourself!

Cheron, How do you get the daughter to have the same color hair that the Mother has? I have all of my Mother's hair that color and no matter what color the husbands hair is my kids all take his color. Also I never get a girl with the blue hair unless she is the one that I want to adopt.

Hi Eve. Sorry I do not know, I am really just learning about the game myself. I adopted the mother the very first time I played the game because I thought she was pretty. The husband was the 3rd proposal. I was going to keep looking for a different husband, but Dakota turned a bit blue and sent me an email that she was lonely, so I accepted Bistro's proposal. They actually had three girls that looked like the mother. I am so glad I picked Bistro because he is the best husband, he does all the chores and takes good care of Dakota and his family. He always sits by her and if she is confused because I am trying to get her to do some chore, he drops what he's doing and helps her by doing the chore himself. She is happiest taking care of herself in the bathroom. I am going to try to find the same husband in generation two, he's been so wonderful. Here's a pic of my first family. Bistro and Dakota are in their 50's this morning.

Congrats Cheron! I had that very same couple in my last gen, and he was the best husband and worker I've had in the game so far.

Eve 52, to get the rainbow haired girl to more likely have rainbow babies you need to marry one of the last three heads in the big heads image. They are the bald guy (*Best husband ever!), mohawk haired guy, and spike haired guy. Good luck!

You should have no trouble getting redheads. I've had oodlings of them. Hugs!

That's a beautiful family Cheron! For anyone that wants to know how to determine the children of other couples, I'll put a method for it under a spoiler tag here. smile

Click to reveal..
Windows
Go to C:/Program Files/Virtual Families and locate the Images folder.

Locate and open the bigheads00.png image, this will be our guide that we call the 'head chart' to find the children.

Mac
This only works if you did not purchase your game from BigFishGames.

Open finder and go to the Virtual Families folder, right click on the application icon and click Show Package Contents.

Open the Contents folder, then the Resources folder, and then the Images folder.

Locate and open the bigheads00.png image, this will be our guide that we call the 'head chart' to find the children.

Finding the Children

First look at the chart and number the heads vertically from 1-50. The black haired male and female at the top are number 1, and the rainbow and blue spiked hair are number 50.

Find out the number that the mother and father are in your game, add those two numbers together and divide it by two. Lets say the number you get is 28, you would count down the chart to 28 and this will likely be the couple's child both male and female.

Any children between the parents could be an expected birth but it's usually the ones closest to the middle number. If the mom and dad have the same number, the child will most likely turn out looking like the father or mother. smile The child can also come out looking like the head 1 spot above and below the parents.

The head chart cannot be used to predict all children because sometimes the game will pick a random head on the chart to be their child which is what I call a rare or random child in the family.

I wouldn't even have known about all of it myself without your help here in the forum.
