That is one of the 'email events' that can randomly occur in Virtual Families, and it's probably not related to this bug. I've seen that particular event many times during the course of my games, but it only occurs when you have a single adult with no children in the game, usually soon after adopting them (which fits your situation of having no proposals). Once the person marries or adopts an orphan, that event won't occur.

We are looking into this issue, and we realize that it's causing serious problems for long-running games. The best thing to do is to make backups of all of your savegame files (the procedure is here), if possible prior to the 30th generation (I know that you and some others have already passed that point). That way, you have preserved your families in the event that we can provide a workable solution to this problem.
