Yep. At the top of the game screen, you should see seven fish shapes... if you have found some Magic Fish, then the fish would be orange. Anyhow, click on this. It will take you to the Trophy Room. At the bottom right of the Trophy Room screen, you should see a button called "Statistics". Click this. A new window pops up that lists such things as how many hours you have played, how many food units you have given, how much you earned, etc. Near the bottom of the list, you should find a line for Species found. The number next to that tells you how many species that you have found.

Of course, that is for the Windows version.. I have no idea what the PDA version is like.
