Hi gailK! First thing to do when you have an issue with the game is letting us know what version you have and where you purchased the game. If you don't know, you'll see the version number and company name on the bottom-left corner of the main menu screen. It also helps to know if you're running the game on Windows (XP, Vista, etc) or Mac.

There have been issues with time not passing properly in games although I have not heard of one spouse not aging properly.. Typically time issues occur from someone playing with the computer's clock on the bottom-right side of your screen.

As for them not having children, some couples will actually need baby boost to have children. To check this, you'd have to give a doctor consultation to both the husband and wife after they fail to have a child. If they do not need the baby boost, you can still use it to raise the chances of having children.
