In the forums, I have read many requests for a in-game "fish tracker". The Fish Tracker that was generously created and given to us by Celebane is wonderful - I use it myself. However, some people aren't, ahem, computer-savvy enough to use it, or they want something simpler to use. Others don't like having to go back and forth between programs.

Some people, I have noticed, want a simple "list" that they can print out and refer to, to see what fish they have and don't have.

To this purpose, I have created a simple Quattro Pro document in the form of a chart. Fin types are horizontal, body types are vertical. It will print out on a single page in landscape page format. (Gotta set the page margins to .25 on all sides for that to work. Quattro Pro has that as the default but Excel doesn't.)

To document a fish you've found, just find the fin type and body type and find the cell where the two meet. You can document with a x or a checkmark that you have it, and there's even room to document prices, if you wish to do so.

I am willing to donate the document to the community. I can do it in both Quattro Pro and Microsoft Excel, and will offer both versions. Additionally, I can offer a "blank" version (again, in both Quattro Pro and Microsoft Excel), for first-time players who do not wish to know beforehand what species and fins there are.

The really good thing about it is, if you use a pencil, you can erase the checkmarks and use it over and over and over. You can even keep a price list. I.E. if you originally sold a (fintype)(bodytype) for $20, then later was able to sell it for $25, you can change the price and have a handy reference for the next game.

You can find the documents attached to this post. Let me know if you have any questions.

You should check out this thread! There are links in that post to use to contact LDW about what you've created. I'm pretty sure that LDW will include them in the Fish Tycoon Guide section!

*grin* I figured the community could use something like it. I've started using it myself for this particular game, and the way it prints, there's actually a square of leftover space that I write future crosses I wanna try or other info... price changes, for instance. On the very bottom of the square, I got a little bit crazy and drew some fish and plants based on the ones from my real-life fishtank. I think that I actually accidentally drew a part of the new tank scheme for the 60-gallon tank that I'm getting in a few months. LOL!!!

All the fishies names are in two parts. ie a Speckled Leaffish is a Leaffish, and it's fins are the speckled type. Greenfin Beta is a Beta, with greenfin type fins.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for that Ive just downloaded it. As an aid to your chart I have done two charts showing the numerous ways of breeding fin types and breeds. As I am still short alot of fish its handy to know what I can use to breed what Im missing. It also means I dont have to breed two same body types with different fins to get that body type with another fin type (sounds confusing I know). I just check the chart to see what combinations of breed types produce the breed type I need, and what combinations of fin types produce the fin type I need.

This is the best thing ever! I use it (in pencil of course) along with the combinations database List Database This way I can see what fish are missing on the chart and then go to the database to figure out how to breed them. You are a serious life saver. I have my mother and a friend of mine buying the game and trying to help me figure it out, lol. thanks a bunch.
