I just started a new generation and Lucette won't read her e-mail. The action says "Reading e-mail" but she just stands there shaking her head "no" but doesn't say a word. Then she goes off to do something else. Her stats are fine.

Her Status is Happy. I just gave her a desensitizer just in case she had some hidden dislikes, but she still won't read her e-mail. What can I do?

I've seen this happen before with the working router and no one else in the house to occupy the seats.. what seemed to work was exiting from that family for a little while and returning and trying again.

Perhaps it could be a little glitch that thinks the router is broken or the computers are occupied and just needs the game to be reopened.

Ok, so I decided to completely close the game and reopen it, and now she will read her e-mail. I wonder why she wouldn't before.

That's exactly what I did Lyss and it worked. Too bad the marriage proposal that was waiting for her wasn't the match I wanted.

Aw We'll never know who was trying to get through to her.. maybe she had a sneak preview of what he looks like before showing you and told you he's a definite "no"

LOL! He actually was cute. I just want either a perfect match for her (toy maker) or a head lower down the chart.

Whenever you close the game without accepting the proposal, the person proposing will change That's why the backups work and we don't always get the same one!

I wonder who was proposing before you had to close the game.. that would be really funny to figure out

You mean even though the e-mail hadn't yet been opened, the contents changed?

We can't exactly prove that I suppose I'm just depending on the idea that closing the game also closes the current proposal but saves the fact that there was an incoming proposal..

then when you next open the game, the random generator kicks in to give you your next proposal. Only way we'd know for sure is to have one of the staff members let us in on its secrets

Edit: Actually, when we use backups the game will not remember us rejecting or accepting a proposal, and it'll show a new one anyway! That's how I came by my little theory.

I had a similar dilemma but my new Generation worked in the Office, and she wouldn't read the e-mail no matter what. She died cold and lonely, with no kids, which ended my game

If you have an earlier version than 1.0.05, you should look into getting the updates because there have been lots of fixes. You can see the version in the bottom-left corner along with who you bought the game from.
