How many fish were in the tank at the time? Were they adults or immature fish? As I mentioned in my answer to your other question about that chemical, you really need to have a tank full of fish in order to increase the chances of having an effect. It usually affects only a small percentage of the fish in the tank, and it's easier to see any effects if the fish are adults.

If you had only immature fish in the tank, you may have to wait until they are grown to see if anything happened. If you had only one or two fish in the tank, you may have, as you said, wasted $650.

I used the unknown chemical a lot, when I made my thousands from breeding and selling the golden guppy. It only seemed to affect the groupers, unless I didn't see something. Well I used it a lot before my broter deleted my game. I had 1 fish to go to

The change can be so minute that you may have missed it. I also thought it had done nothing until the next day when I couldn't find my original Magic Fish!! Ugh....

I just want to say how amazing i think this game is. finding this website was a dream come true. i have been playing through the game slowly, breeding fish, and upgrading my tanks, and it is the most addictive game i have ever played.

In about 99.9% of the instances that I have used the chemical. I only noticed changes in fin types.

Another thing the unknown chemical is good for, is when you are trying to discover all of the species, and you are at some high number, but not all of them, and you can't remember which fish you have or haven't discovered yet, (Note to self, next time take better notes .) Just use the unknown chemical over and over again on a full mixed tank, after a bit, you will notice your species discovered number has gone up. Yayyy!!

The chemical does work right away and what it actually does is completely changes the fishes appearances from what it was orginally to another speices
