Once the current child is done nursing, you can try for another baby. However, the first time you try, it will say it is too soon, no matter how old the other child is by then. When this happens, wait about 15-30 minutes and then try again. If they argue, be persistent and eventually they will give in and try for a baby.

If you look at your family screen, it will show you the gender of the new baby (picture will be what it will look like as a child). Once it is done nursing and becomes a child, it will be included in the detail screen along with the other family members. That is when/where you can rename the child if you wish to.
