No, no...not your OWN house! We know that when we get addicted to VF, our own houses suffer!

What I mean is, do you clean your FV house and lawn every day? I've see quite a few screen shots in which there are bunches of socks and wrappers around. Is it true that they "breed" and by leaving them there, more will "grow"?

LOL! Good question! I read that a messy house brings down your peeps spirits.

Each time I find any issue (including unwatered flowers) I'll get my peeps to clean it up or fix it right away! The only time you'll see wrappers or other issues in my screenshot is if I was rushing to get a screenshot or it's from one of my test families that I keep paused.

I think it would build up eventually, especially with the trash event I haven't thought about whether it would stop once there's a certain amount of trash on the ground or not.. great question!

Me too - I have to clean them as soon as I see them! Unless my peeps are old; then I leave them for the next generation!

Check out this house! No one but the cat is living in it right now because I didn't want to start a new generation, pause the game and then be without my computer for a week. So, the mess is piling up for the next family. I see trophies in their future!

Ok, that's it! I'm going to do some experimenting. I cleaned up everything in all my fams today so I'm starting fresh. In 2 of my fams (one rich, one poor), I'm going to leave everything scattered around for one week. In 2 other fams, I'll clean as usual, but count how many of each thing I clean.

I know that I might get fined for having too many weeds in the yard, but it's a risk I'll take!

I'll let you all know what happens.

Every time I open a family I first check for any sickness then look round the house and garden and pick up wrappers, socks, and weeds, and clear up any stains. Only when the house is looking presentable will I open any waiting emails and see how the peeps are getting on.

It's ironic really, as I'm terrible at carrying out housework in RL.

I do the same thing Arnie. My little peeps house and yard have to be spotless.

I usually do that too, but I forgot about one game I was playing and when I went in there were sooooo many socks, weeds and wrappers. More, I think, than would have been there if I removed everything.

I'm also a "neat freak" when it comes to my lil peeps' homes. It's the first thing I do (while checking for illnesses - if they're not sick, they get placed on a wrapper, sock or weed.) Sick ones get piled in the middle of the house until they have their meds, but they get to help clean as soon as they get it. lol I don't even give the fruits or handwash until the house is clean.

the first thing I do is look for socks, dirt, wrappers, and so on. Once the house is clean then any sicknesses get taken care of and then emails get read. After that, meals are prepared and if possible babies are made!! I just have to make sure my peeps have a clean home!!

First thing every time! After that I check the fridge. Then treat the sick then the rest like you do.

I have to admit to one problem though. Everytime one of my peeps passes away I cry. It's got so dh goes "now who died?"

Well, the results are in! I couldn't wait 7 days...the mess was driving me crazy, so here are the results after 4 days:

Messy family 1: 5 wrappers, 7 socks, 7 spots and 6 weeds: 25
Control family 1: 12 wrappers, 5 socks, 3 spots and 7 weeds:27

Messy family 2: 12 wrappers, 6 socks, 5 spots and 5 weeds: 28
Control family 2: 10 wrappers, 7 socks, 9 spots and 5 weeds:31

It looks like it doesn't make a big difference if you clean immediatly or not.

I also found that happiness level is NOT affected by the messy house. Everyone was still elated!

Thanks for sharing ajuma! I get worried each time I find a really well-hidden weed or wrapper that could've been sitting there for ages and how it affects their happiness.

That collectibles mod really does make them easier to look at!

I finally decided to get mod because I still haven't found 2 bugs in my longest running game. It really does help!

Good information to know Ajuma Hubby is relieved because some days he barely has time to check for health and groceries, let alone clean up the house.

I have to clean my house it's the only place that I can seem to keep clean. I live with four pack rats who hate to throw anything away.One still has hand lotion from 1987. So I just go into my little family and look at their beautiful house and I feel better. And what makes it really hard is I use to work as a professional house cleaner and would have people waiting on a waiting list so that I could come clean their house. I'd hate to have them come see mine know. Oh, what you live with for the love of your family.

The only non-elated person I had was after that parents passed and the boy got the house. He was "a little blue". I've had other peeps take over the house and be a little blue, but they got happy soon enough!

Hi emas! To clean the dustbin, just click on one of your people and drag them onto the bin. It will then say that he/she is taking out the garbage and once you see them walking away with a garbage bag you can either let him/her take it all the way to the garbage bin outside or you can click and drag him/her again to stop it early since it's already cleaned.

I generally praise the peep carrying the garbage to get them to drop the bag, and save them the long walk. That way (hopefully) they will do it of their own accord more frequently.

I've had just opened the game and there was that dreadful message Had to give a peep and energetic drink for her to get the trash faster. *laughs* Took ages to get all of it.

I just installed my new rainbow collectibles mod and I wouldn't have had a clue that there was a dirt smudge there without it! I love that little cloud, almost tempted to just leave it there

I also couldn't see the wrapper on the bottom-left side. *Rubs eyes*

Moonlyte, I got that same message 3 TIMES in one day!!!!!!! Luckily, my peeps all have enought money and there were bunches of kids in the house. Didn't take them TOO long!

Haa. Once I had SO much dirt in my house. It was hilarious. Now I clean my house inside and out everytime I see one speck of dirt

I have my peeps clean any sort of mess as soon as i see it. I go nuts when they don't clean up after a meal right away.

I do find though that keeping the house clean, does seem to keep the peeps happier and healthier.

Well my Lily's house is spotless, her estate is gleaming, yet she keeps stomping ants! What's up with THAT? (she doesn't have kids yet, so no cupcakes in the bedrooms or anything like that)

I've never had problems with ants, even though my (VF) house is a mess!
