After you adopt your person, wait for a few minutes and she'll get an e-mail. You'll see a little icon flashing when you get the e-mail. To check the e-mail, click your person and drag her on top of one of the computers.

If you like the guy that is proposing, you can marry him. But if you reject him, it can take a while before she gets another proposal.

After you find the right guy for her, you can drag your male onto the female, or the female onto the male and they'll try to make a baby.
