when you send your child with the talent scout, do you ever get any of the money they are earning? or do you just get the $500 and never get anything else?

You get the $500 and then nothing else. The only time you'll get to have some sort of interaction or event with the child is when the parents die and you get to have the child as an option to start the new generation.
