I recently went through all the breeds, keeping track as I bred fish. When I bred the last fish, I found the game said I had only bred 440 fish.
Is there a way to figure out which fish I am still missing??? I have taken a look at the save file, but cannot find anything that gives me any reasonable clue!!
Please Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There's a post in the Fish Tycoon Guides section here that has pictures of all of the fish, it could take a while but you can go through it to figure out which one you're missing. There's lots of other handy things in the Guides section for the game. Good luck!

No help. I bred 440 fish in about 6 days. I have no recollection of which I may have missed, especially since I was following the same breeding pattern for every type of fin. Having done that, I should not have missed any, but it says I did.
Has anyone opened up the save file in a text editor? All the fish types are listed at the bottom of it, but I cannot see anything that would give me a clue that I was missing a fish.

The chemical idea seems much better than re-breeding! Thanks. And I have been backing up my save files before opening them.
I'm still convinced, though, that the information I seek is somewhere in the save file and that someone much smarter than I should be able to find it . . . .

I found it. Here's how.
1. Copy the save file to a new location and open it using wordpad (or other).
2. Scroll to the end to find the long lists of fish names
3. Move the cursor to before each fish name and hit enter. Be sure to scroll to the right to make sure you get each fish name on its own line.
4. The fish names that have yyyy (with dots above them) seem to be the fish you have not found yet.
Note: After breeding the fish, I did have to close the game, then re-copy the save file before the yyyy went away.
