This is my first posting to any forum but I need some help.

I don't know if there is anything that can be done to stop the inevitable because my first family, 5th generation - Vic and Penni - have refused to have children. I've forced the issue and they would do the do and just walk away like nothing. I've tried baby boost, perfumes, etc. Leave the game, come right back and try again. NOTHING!!! Their family worked so hard for all those generations. They have every upgrade, $300,000+ in the bank and it is all going to be lost because they are now 56 and 57 years old. Unless some poor little orphan comes along, everything is gone . . . right?

Does anyone know of anything that can be done to stop this one game from ending? (I have 4 other families going with no problem with children, many twins, triplets or at least one.

Thanks for any suggestions anyone might have to stop this "arrogant", "wealthy", self-centered couple from "losing it all."

First of all it's best to keep a backup of your families in case it gets close to ending such as times like this. Although your peeps are 56 & 57, some will actually still have children around that age!

I recommend you backup your game files immediately before you do anything else, you can see how to do that here.

If your peeps do not have children, you'll likely have to wait for the adoption which means the backup is crucial. If your family does end, you can always use your backup and try again.

Best of luck!

I don't know if this would help any, but have you done a medical consultation on at least Penni, maybe Vic too? I know you said you have tried baby boost, but maybe it will be more effective if it is recommended by the doctor. I could be way off on this, but since you are desperate to keep this family going, I would suggest doing a medical consult and, if it recommends baby boost, give them another shot of it and keep trying. Of course, at their ages, it may still not work, but one never knows. GOOD LUCK!

Hi. I don't post on forums a lot either. I came here cause someone told me about BayouBlondes guides. I know she says to make a backup at 40 if you don't have kids yet and that saved me from losing a family. Its 2 bad you didnt find this place sooner. Ive got a lot of help here. I hope you get an adoption. Good luck.

If I save the game, will I be able to change the outcome. What happens if I save the game, new options, what. As soon as I find out I will save it if it's not too late. I appreciate any help anyone can give me.

If you copy the savegame file elsewhere you can carry on playing, then if you don't have the luck to have any kids you can restore the saved game and start over from where you saved it. If need be you can keep doing that until a kid appears. Make sure that you pause the game before backing up the savegame file, though, or you'll find that your peeps have aged and possibly died in the meantime.

Instructions for backing up the files are in the Support FAQ (Windows - change the 'Platform' dropdown if you're using a Mac).

The game is automatically saved every 10 minutes, as well as every time you change player slots or quit the game. In order to use savegames to change the outcome of the game, you need to back up the savegame files before you make a choice that you might want to "undo" later.

For example, in a situation where you are getting ready to move to the next generation, and you think that you might want to change your mind about which child to select, you should back up your savegame files using the procedures in this post before you click the New Generation button. Then, should you later decide that you made the wrong choice or want to see what would happen if you did things a little differently, you can restore the backup and try again.

In the case of an aging couple that has had no children, backing up the game early in the marriage (paused, of course) can allow you to 'replay' that generation should they die without heirs. Even if you back up the game very late in the generation, you can use the backup to continue to 'revive' them and try to get one of the orphan events. It's technically manipulating the game's outcome, but it does offer a way to avoid having to start over after many generations of game play. smile
