The Magic-faction potion list shows the Scientic clarity (Berry, Rose, Cactus) and Feels smarter (Berry, Orchid, Lotus) potions adding skill. In 5 out of 5 of my villagers each time, with different skill profiles (some 0 in everything, others with varying levels of Research and other skills): NO changes whatever. Did 1.00.04 introduce a bug, or is the list linked to in http://www.ldwforums.com/ubbthreads/ubbt...ists#Post156699 simply wrong, twice?

There is only one list linked to at that posting, although there are several in the thread. That one comes in two copies, 4430-vv3_alchemyguide_magic.pdf (1056 downloads) and 4431-vv3_alchemyguide_magic_xls.zip (244 downloads).

Have you checked that list with the others in the thread to verify the same information has been posted? Since they are fan lists, there could be wrong information in one or more. Some potions affect the hidden aspects of a villager's attributes or personality, but the "feels smarter" potion does exactly what it says it does. An explanation of hidden aspects of the villagers can be found here.

I'm feeling dumber. Let's try for scientific clarity.
I realize that a fan list could contain wrong information (like the erroneously perceived causes of the random potion blow-ups). Therefore, I publicly asked here whether the "+skill" postings were erroneous, as I believed I had discovered.
So: By "exactly what it says it does" do you mean, Heather, that the villager only feels smarter, but isn't really? In which case the "+skill" in the posted list is wrong?
Or that s/he now will learn faster, as suggested by the "hidden aspects" thread? So the "+skill" in the posted list is only indirectly applicable?
And similarly for the clarity potion.

I'm afraid (still feeling dumber) I literally can't imagine HOW I'd observe the effects of scientific clarity. Ah, well.
But leaving that aside: You confirm by the above that the "(+skill)" notations are in error, IF I am correct in my observation: Skills are non-hidden characteristics graphed on the Details page, and the two potions have no immediate effect on them.

Of course! The other list merely quotes what appears on the screen.
