I have a person who is a rocket scientist, but she is on level 4 and won't go any further. I'll sit her down, she'll type on the computer for a minute, then stand up and say "uh-uh". She doesn't progress while I'm away from the game, either. I made her have another baby as punishment, since she didn't want kids and already had 3. laugh
Maybe she's not smart enough to be a rocket scientist?

The router was working, but I just went back to that game and caught the 15-year-old "fixing the computers", so maybe there was something wrong. (The green light on the router was still on). Maybe my rocket scientist couldn't figure out it was broken and needed a kid to fix it for her!

Maybe. wink

The peeps have minds of their own, though, and sometimes won't do as they're told. Make sure you praise her a number of times when she starts work, preferably using candies or fruit, not the green glove. If you praise with the glove too often she'll think you're nagging (which you are, I suppose) and run away.

Also be careful not to overwork her. Check that she's not tired or hungry; sometimes that's hidden by "Not feeling fresh" in her status line, so pop her in the shower if that message appears.

You are right, come to think of it I probably did not praise her enough for working; I usually do that when they first start out but then tend to forget. Thanks. smile

"Fixing the computers" is just one of those cute but useless things they do, kind of like "Thinking about cooking" or "Studying a recipe." There's really nothing wrong with the computers. smile

The "uh-uh" with head-shaking or a puff of smoke indicates that she failed at a round of work. It means she tried but didn't succeed. It happens quite often when they are new and lower level in their careers, but still happens some at the higher levels too. She just needs training and encouragement.

Arnie made some good suggestions for you. You can praise twice in a row for work, then switch to something else and praise for it, then move back to work, to avoid getting the "nagging" message. Just be careful not to tire her out. Eventually she'll be able to complete a round of work. She'll be very excited and proud when she does (and I'm sure you will be too.)

There is one other thing I didn't see mentioned.
Click to reveal..
There is the Office Magazine (that would help a Rocket Scientist) that will help to promote their career. The lower on the "Skill Scale" the more helpful one magazine will be. The higher up the scale they are, the more magazines it will take to get them to the next level.
