I have played the trial version of Village Sim and am considering purchasing a full version. I have a Palm TX and am wondering if LDW will be putting out a version of the game formatted to take advantage of the larger TX screen? The Palm site doesn't list this game as compatible with the TX even though it sells the game.

Village Sim v1.1 works fine on a Palm TX, however (for maximum compatibility with the myriad of Palm devices out there) all of LDW's Palm games are designed to operate in 320x320 (with the exception of the special version of Fish Tycoon for the now-defunct Tapwave Zodiac).

As the owner of three Palm devices that sport the larger displays, I can say that even though I enjoy full-screen games, LDW's game are no less enjoyable in their current format.

I agree that the game seems to be pretty entertaining, I find that the several games I have tried that employ the full screen are visually more arresting (I have tried Madden NFL '06, Tennis Addict, and bought Bejeweled 2.).

If there were a version that would take advantage of the full screen, I'd be more interested in buying it, but that's not to say I won't anyway.

By the way, most games that use the full screen of the TX have built-in modifications that will allow for different Palms, such as ones with grey screens or high-resolution. Sometimes it means installing a choice of a file that best meets the demands of the device. So it's not imperative that LDW makes a one-fits-all game.

That's true, but producing multiple versions of a game increases development costs (sometimes significantly), and isn't always a good way for a small studio to use its resources.

Okay. I understand. So I don't know if it will be worth it for you, but it's clear that the future of Palms and Pocket PCs is for the rectangular screen. If I purchase the game, I would love for a full-screen version to be developed.

Thanks,
Jeff
