In my games the wives have always been the ones to die. And if I pick a daughter to inherit the house, the marriage proposals are always 2 to 3 years younger. If I pick a son to inherit the house, the marriage proposals are always 2 to 3 years older. Why does the wife always have to be older. It kind of sets her up to be the one to die.

Also, when it comes time to pick a child to inherit the house, the ages are all wrong. I had one family that had 6 kids, 5 pregnancies. When it came time to pick a someone to take over the house all six kids were either 24 or 27. I hope we get an update to fix that.

I think you've been unlucky. In my games, sometime the male is older, sometimes the female. A few times they've been the same age. I've also had the younger peep die first a few times as well.

On the transition to the next generation, the kids' ages are randomised so that they are close to the age of the original adoptee when they took over. That's intentional; the youngest may be aged several years and the oldest may be made younger. That way age isn't much of a factor when you decide who is to inherit the house.

I hadn't noticed that to be the case. In fact, most of the time I've had wives younger than the husband, and then the wife lives to an older age than the husband did anyway!

In real life, woman usually live longer. Just visit any nursing home--the majority of their residents are women.

It goes both ways in my games. Sometimes the younger husband dies first.
I noticed the ages of the kids too when you go to start a new generation. I'm not complaining though 'cause most of the time they end up being younger than they should be.

I will reveal what a terrible person I am in this post. :P In my earlier gens when they don't have so many upgrades and have to work a lil harder for their money, I'm awful about working more with the one who has the highest salary to improve their health the most. In other words, if I don't have the time to train both of them, I want the one with the highest salary to live the longest, so I concentrate on them more. I make sure to train them to work out (or use the treadmill if they can afford it) and check their weight (I love to hear them cheer when they get off the scales.) When there are duplicate fruits or vitamins in the store, I always give them to the person with the highest salary. However evil it may sound, it has always worked for me. So I know for a fact that health is the determining factor in how long they live, not age or gender.

I generally try to choose younger wives though. It's because I want to get the most childbearing years I can out of them. hehe

For me most of my couples die together sometimes I'll get a husband or a wife left alone for a bit but I come back in a few hours and that spouse has also died.
