Heya guys smile
Just a few minutes ago I turned on my game and receieved an adoption notification. Now the family I received it on is in the 7th generation, and I'd only just chosen the guy. He's 27 and has rejected two proposals. I rejected the notification as I was scared he wouldn't get married and have more kids.

Has any accepted a notifcation like this and then received a proposal? After reading through the forum I know that if a partner dies, a proposal comes if they don't have kids, so then this would probably mean that once adopted, the guy can't get married.

I feel sorry for the kids, but I rejected him laugh

Also, has anyone noticed genes in their families. I've noticed that depending on the hair colour of the parents, the kids will have the same colour. It'd be cool if this was the same with twins and triplets. A person that's a twin or triplet would have increased chances of having multiple children. I'm only saying it as my guy now is a triplet himself. grin

I had a generation (my 6th) where the girl who inherited the house adopted a little boy not three seconds after I chose her. She continued to get proposals, though I didn't find one "accept" worthy until she was nearly 50! She already had a child, so the age factor wasn't a problem, and they ended up adopting a second child, too! smile

Hmmm, now I feel really bad for rejecting them. I didn't know they could get married if they already had kids cry

My single female adopted an orphan, then went on to marry (I made sure her choice of mates definitely wanted children) and have children with her husband. As a matter of fact, she and hubby had two singles, then a set of triplets, so they ended up raising a full house of six kids!

I got the perfect match trophy because my third generation girl adopted a little boy immediately after inheriting. I felt more comfortable waiting and rejecting proposals.

I had one girl who adopted a kid pretty much like a day after I had chosen her for a new generation. A few hours later she accepted a marriage proposal from someone and has so far had two other kids with him.

I *think* the no marriage proposals only applies if your person has already married once and had children with their spouse. In several of my games, I've had new peeps adopt children and get married "a few years" later.

I've had three adoption's before marriage now. One was at the doorstep when the new gen adoptee came home. One of these happened only yesterday, and when her mom got married she was the one that celebrated marriage with the hubby instead of mom...so cute!!!!

I have 2 adopted children before my peep gets married (can't wait to see them celebrating marriage, like Lewanda said! smile )

I have a question though: what if my peep doesn't get married? Is it possible to start another generation with a single mom? I mean, an adopted child with no father?

I think you can start a new generation as long as there is a kid to inherit the house MoonLyght.

Moonlyght, Lys has this posted somewhere though I can't find it so will post it here for you again. It allows you to find "Mr Right" without your peep having to age. That's how I find my Rainbow girls hubbys. Without this method my rare family would have ceased long ago. Here's the method:

AVING YOUR GAME FILES:

1. Go into your game / hit the space bar to pause / Go out of your game and into another one /

2. Open your My Documents folder and locate the LDW folder. Inside it open the Virtual Families folder / Locate the game files for your game. Here's how they're numbered:
SLOT #1 is Virtual Families 1.ldw and Virutal Families 21.ldw
SLOT #2 is Virtual Families 2.ldw and Virutal Families 22.ldw
SLOT #3 is Virtual Families 3.ldw and Virutal Families 23.ldw
and so on...

3. Highlight both of your game files / RIGHT CLICK and COPY / Make a new folder in the same folder your game files are in, and name it according to your games name. / Open that folder / RIGHT CLICK and PASTE the files into it. / RIGHT CLICK again and COPY them.

4. Go back into the Virtual Families folder where you first copied the files, and leave it open.

5. Go back to your game / answer the marriage proposal (*This works the same for making babies.) / If you don't get the proposal you want REJECT the proposal, and go back to the other game (*You don't have to pause or anything this time.) / Go to the Virtual Families files folder you have open / RIGHT CLICK and PASTE the files back into it (*It will ask if you want to overwrite the files..say yes.)

6. Go back to your game and try again. If you don't like the proposal go back and do #5 again. Keep doing #5 until you find the mate you want for your peep.

I see what you do mind you I don't like taking chances But I might do so on my laptop the helpful info as at the moment my peeps are failing to have their first baby and now they have turned 30, so just in case they fail to have a baby before they too old I follow your instructions.

I've done that to get the last baby too Ann. I like my peep to have her last one at around 45-47 so they'll have a kid to cook and pick things up when they slow down. This method prevents her from getting past the age of childbearing while trying to make that last one.

Oh Lewanda, my guardian angel!!! Thanks so so so very much!!!!

I already saved your post for my next family, cause Wiki got married! I couldn't wait cause the guy looked so much like my husband! *laughs* I mean, the peep is not as good looking as he is *laughs* but there sure is a resemblance! wink

And I would also like to see the kids celebrating marriage - THAT'S SO CUTE!!!!

Can you believe that Wiki left the celebration to work (!?) and the kids celebrated the marriage with their new daddy. I think because they really wanted one, as last night they went out looking for daddy and there was no daddy to find. so sad. *laughs*

I must show you the pic of them celebrating - each one with a cake. SO CUTE!!!!

It's adorable when the kid's celebrate the marriage of their adoptive mother/father Moonlyght. When my present generation rainbow girl found her hubby he celebrated while she went to watch tv. Lol, it was hilarious!

The last generation I had on one of my families I waited so long for Mr. Right that my peep adopted two kids -boy and girl - they were a year apart. Then she went on to have four of her own!!!

Has anyone ever had a single peep adopt a child before an acceptable marriage proposal came around? That happened with Briane today. I had not yet found a suitable suitor for her when a little boy showed up at the door needing a home. How could I turn away a little munchkin? So Briane became a single mom for awhile until I broke down and let her marry some guy that I hope I am not sorry I let her marry. I wanted a perfect match but I am just not seeing it happen. Anyway, just wondered if anyone else had a single parent adoption.

You can read much more about this in the following topic:
Adoption before marriage

I've personally never had it happen but I would definitely adopt a child each time I get the option to do it grin

Has anyone had a single parent that never got married but had adopted kids and therefore was able to start another generation?

I have a single parent of 2 adopted kids and she is 38 (still young for the most part)- I haven't found her a suitable partner yet. Am I OK as long as the kids make it to college? Or should I be worried and take one of the next marriage proposals?

Yes, you are fine. You don't have to get married in the game as long as you have adopted kids to take over.
(Did I beat Lys in posting this? LOL)

Just so you know: I just confirmed a theory I had.

If you want your single peep to adopt a child before marriage, you just have get a peep that "definitely" wants to have a baby and let he/she stay single for a couple of years.

That happened 3 times for me.

My fourth try (for the sake of the theory) was to start a family with a "not really" wanting a baby peep. She stayed about 10 years single and with no adoptions.

Interesting Moonlyght. I am one of those terrible people that does not adopt kids, although I have a few times. Both the kids I adopted were 3 years old when adopted and total terrors. I might try it again since I feel bad sending the adoption agency away when they come knocking.
