When you are at the point of choosing a new generation do you clean up and try to fix the things in the house before you choose a new person or do you let them clean up when they move in. If I have a really really slow family member and no one moving too fast I'll have the new family do it. If not, I will have the remaining family members get the house in order before the new "tenants" move in so they can concentrate on making babies smile. I sometimes will even leave them with a meal so they can eat right away when they move in. Hopefully I'm not giving them salmenella!

I let the new peeps do it, at least they have something to do :P Unread mail does bother me, cause it feels weird, having to open an email that was actually ment for your parents.. But it's an ingame at random mail so I shoudn't bother so much.

I usually will have the current peeps clean up and yes, even make a meal. That way my new peep can eat and get started on their career right away. I don't try to work them to death or anything, I let them exercise, watch t.v., work on a hobby, even do laundry and stuff, but I prefer to mainly focus on getting them fed, bathed and getting their career off to a good start. smile

I wait for them to move in because the parent that is left is to slow to pick up all the trash and weeds and clean the dirt. And once the family gets started i assign the kids and women who are carring another kid to clean up.

If there is someone left in the previous family, I have them clean and get everything ready so I can begin training my new one right away. Thanks so much for sharing about the meal - I thought it would be deleted like it is when you close the family. That's a great tip!

Yummy--can't wait to sit down at a table of food that was prepared by my parents/siblings 3-5 years ago (considering the age progression of the kids during college/generation transition). And the food is still hot even!

I have an elder couple now in their 60s. They sent me an e-mail asking for help getting their messy house in order. I let them get the wrappers close to the trash can and the socks near the washer so they don't have to walk far. I'll save the "long distance" ones for the next generation to pick up.

I make the kids in the new family do it because they are faster and I don't prepare a meal

I'll generally get the older generation to clean the house but if only one aged parent is left I'll usually leave any weeds at the far end of the garden to the new generation because they'll walk faster. I've never prepared a meal for the newcomers.

P.S. I'm a little worried how my new generation peep, Lavinia, is getting on while I'm stuck at work. She rejected her first proposal (he didn't want kids and also had not a very good job) and I had to leave for work before another one came in. I hope she's not too lonely alone in that big house.
