Have you been pausing it at all? That would be about right -- I think a year is 2 hours, but that makes it sound more like four. Unfortunatly, VF doesn't allow you to vary speeds (like VV did), so there's really not much you can do. If they're 54, it's a strech, but they COULD have a kid -- administer Baby Boost to both of them, then sit on them to try as much as possible. Pause them when you're away.

Click to reveal..
Also wait for a stranger or orphan and I think organic food increases fertility, as well as fruit, and excersize. Don't give them baby boost multiple times. Try for a baby every 30 minutes, that's as much as they'll bear.

Good luck!

She's married but they never seem to want to "do it". Just twice....I'm thinking maybe they're not that compatible.....
For "children" it said "definately" for both so I'm surprised I'm having trouble. I did the baby boost already and not much luck. Did the perfume too....
What happens to my people when they get old??? Start over?
I guess I'll starting pausing. I didn't know I should do that.
Thanks for the help.

If they die without any kids, the game is over.

it doesn't matter if they argue, just keep putting them together until they try for a baby. they WILL try, even after they've argued about it. i've never had one have a baby over 45 or so though.

The time from birth to two years of age is four hours. From two years of age, our little people age at a rate of one year every four hours.

The oldest age that I am aware of anyone reporting a female giving birth is 54 years, at this time. If Arthur or Barbara has said there is a limit, I haven't seen it.

The readme notes for the .04 update say that a "failsafe" was put in for "refusal to breed" but I have no idea what that means.

Pausing is actually not a good thing to do because they need "down time" when you are not actually playing the game in order for them to get a full night's rest. I would suggest backing up your game file now, so that you can start again from this point if you fail to have a baby or get the adoption event. You can find instructions for doing that in this post.

As dmbson suggested above, if they argue, just keep placing them together until they try. If they fail, wait about 15 minutes and try again. (The time you have to wait is longer depending upon their desire to have children but based on what you posted, 15-20 should be about right for yours.)

I'm so happy! A little 3 year old girl was abandoned by my door and we adopted her!!!! She's so much fun and has so much energy! I guess I will give up on getting pregnant at 57...

Congratulations! That's wonderful news and I'm glad you got to experience the cute and tiny exuberant joys of a VF child.

Be forewarned though, the repeated nerve wrenching sound of dish-banging is NOT so cute.... >.> *giggles*
