Thx for your responses.
I guess my next question is--has anyone seen one of their people die? I mean like, if they are eating or working on their career or something when their "time is up", do they leave what they are doing and walk to the bedroom and lie down and die, or do they just suddenly disappear from where they were and reappear lying on the bed? I know, it sounds morbid, but just wondering if anyone has witnessed the actual death of one of their peeps.

I think your peeps are too old and should have died before but you weren't on so the next time you open the game the die.

I think what Jenny23 means is have you ever seen your peep go to the bed and die? For every death (had 3 today..one was SOOOO sad), I've always entered the game and found the person dead on the bed with the ghost waving "good-bye".
So, has anyone ever seen their peep go to the bed, then die?

Well, I answered my own question (see post #196891). I just had a dad age 62 who was working on his career in the work shop. Then he just left the shop, went into the house, laid down on the bed and died. I didn't notice what the activity bar said he was doing (taking a nap, going to bed, or whatever) because I thought he was just going into the house to get a drink or something--I didn't realize he was about to die.
