I was talking to someone on Twitter about the leaves, nuts, and twigs. Can we identify all of them?





walnut, acorn, ??, ??
almond, pinecone, ??, ??
hazelnut, ??, maple, clover

i always thought the first rare one was a buckeye! i have no clue what the other ones r except the pinecone and clover.

But buckeye is poisonous! I'd rather it be a nice safe hazelnut growing in my peeps' yard, and not something deadly!

I know the one in the bottom row is also from a maple tree... and the third one from the left on the top looks like a coleus leaf.

the bottom 2nd I call Helicopters.. dont know their real name..

The technical name is a samara, but helicopter is another, less technical name. (or whirligig)

The top right looks something like an ash leaf and the middle right is shaped like a hickory.

The 2nd bottom one looks like a sycamore seed pod to me. Cant find the maple leaf anywhere though. Only got the clover from a 'neighbours' email.

The third one in the second looks a bit like a geranium leaf.

esther1981, I'm pretty sure the rare one on the left is a hazelnut. We had a bunch of hazelnut trees in our yard at our old house and that's what they looked like. Wonder what a "buckeye" looks like? I don't think they grow where I live. Must look an awful lot like a hazelnut though, right?

I think the rare one is a chestnut!
