The object of the game (in my opinion) is not only to Fix up the house, upgrades, floors walls etc. But also to see how long you can keep the family going, generation after generation.

No No! The object of the game is to "HAVE FUN!"

Along the way, you have puzzles to solve; collections to build; people to attend to; etc etc etc. laugh laugh laugh laugh laugh

I think the game is designed to let each of us play it with our own goal/s in mind. For example, in VV, some try to create a tribe of say, all blondes. You may want an entire bloodline of all kitchen careers; Or you may want something entirely different. The possibilities are nearly endless and the goals are entirely up to you.

My daughter's list of goals might help you:
1) Finish all the house repairs
2) Get all house upgrades
3) Finish all the collections
4) Get all the trophies
5) See how many generations I can get
Or, as she said to me, "at least see how far I can get before I get interested in something else and quit."

Presently, my object of the game is to reach the 3rd generation without my real little ones deleting the family grin

Thanks everyone.

I kept going to the flowers, tried the mail box, trying to figure out if there was anything more to use from the sandbox, tried the toy area. Wondered why there were never any birds at the bird house. lol

Hey, if you drop a person ON the bird house, a bird comes out! I kept clicking on it thinking the bird would come out like in PT, but nothing. I accidently dropped someone on it while trying to get a collectable and voila!!

Very funny!!! Did you use Deep Thought to come up with that answer? Hmmm... maybe you're running the game on Deep Thought? grin

There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what Virtual Families is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened.

Is there an equivalent theory for the seahorse in FT?

I'm with you! My son left a game running after I'd told him to pause it so they didn't starve. Needless to say, he forgot! Luckily no one was harmed in operation starvation drill
Kids, sheesh. (Hmm, I also have my own playstation memory card after an unfortunate incident involving a 98% finished Harry Potter game that suddenly disappeared, hehe.)
Good luck!

It's an Easter egg (something hidden in a game that is tricky to find). There's a very active discussion about the red ball here.

Telling exactly where it is is technically a spoiler, since most people like to find it themselves. The first post in THIS topic has a clue. All it does is provide entertainment for us while we play. lol grin

The red ball is just so that you are not bored. All you do is bounce it. Other than that... It doesn't really do anything.

I put it in the pool or sandbox or with the toys when I don't want to play with it, so it is out of the way, but blends in with a "natural" setting for it.

I keep mine in the corner of the sandbox so I won't keep thinking it's a bug to collect. If I could lose it I probably would.

Is there any way to get rid of the ball?

Yes, I managed to lose all of mine. I think it had to do with pausing the game for awhile while the ball was laying around the house (maybe not pausing the game and just leaving the ball laying around, I don't really remember it's been so long). When I went to pick it up, it disappeared.

You could keep it in the toolbox, like I do. ^^

Hey Joine, how do you get it IN the toolbox? I tried to put it in and it just pops around the workshop.

I'm guessing she means the toolbox on the side of the screen. The one that you put groceries and things in when you buy them.

Ohhhhhh, THAT toolbox! No wonder I couldn't get it in.

BTW, Does anyone currently have a rainbow girl?
I'm hoping to get one maybe by adoption or marriage. Is there a combination of parents that will increase the chances of having one by birth?

I think the confusion is due to the Tool Tray being called a Toolbox. The game calls it a Tool Tray (when mine is full and I try to buy another item).

I have a rainbow girl. smile The first one married Boone in the 25th generation and I've kept it going generation after generation. We're now in the 29th generation.

Pairing the last 3 heads on the head chart seem to produce more rainbow-haired girls/spikey-haired boys. The 4th head from the bottom combined with the last head on the bottom will sometimes produce rainbow-haired girls/spikey-haired boys.

Here's a pic of the Family Tree for Generations 25-29:

So cool! I love the family tree, Now I will look out for any of the last three. I actually had a proposal from the spikey hair boy a early in the game but I didn't take him (big mistake). New goal; rainbow girl or spikey boy.

Anyone ever had a rare birth of either of these two?

Somewhere in the Big Fish forums it's mentioned that these people--unlike the Villagers--can't starve: They feed themselves whenever necessary. (I wouldn't bet on "whenever desirable", but I haven't searched these forums extensively.)
