i dont know what to do! i have been playing PT for a long time and i have the icon on my desktop, now when i click it it does nothing! usually i double click and it opens now i double click and nothing happens! im on a PC and its vista. this is the first time ive had issues with this! any suggestions?

There are many possibilities. The first thing to do is make sure that the program is still there. Look in \Program Files\Plant Tycoon on your hard drive and see if Plant Tycoon.exe is there. If not, it's likely that your anti-virus program has falsely identified a threat and removed it. That has happened quite a bit lately as anti-virus companies have changed the virus signatures they use for their scans.

If the .exe file is still there, then (if you're running Windows Vista), it could be due to one of the security features in Vista. There are several security features in Vista that can interfere with a running application. The most likely cause of this problem is that Vista's Data Execution Prevention (DEP) is interfering with the digital rights management (DRM) software that handles the activation code that unlocks the game's full features. DEP is an important security feature of Vista and should not be completely disabled; however you can disable DEP for individual applications when you encounter problems with the way Vista handles such applications.

To read about what DEP does and how to change its settings, click Start on your Vista taskbar, then click Help and Support. In the "Search Help" field at the top of the help window, type "dep" and press the Enter key on your keyboard. You should see several entries related to DEP, which you can browse to become familiar with this Vista feature. To change DEP settings, click on "Change Data Execution Prevention settings." Depending upon how Vista is set up on your computer, you may see that DEP is turned on for all programs. If this is the case, you can choose to either set DEP only for essential Windows programs and services, or to disable DEP for the game only by follow the instructions for turning off DEP for an individual program.

im not entirely sure about what u said as im not that good with computers but i found the email from where i bought it so i think what i will do is uninstall everything and then re-install it. i HOPE that works! if it doesnt, i will let u know! thanks Barbara! i did have it from emachines but i bought it from LDW in April. i also backed up the files in case i have to start over!

ok re-installing it didnt help. i clicked and did the dep thing and it said i had to restart my computer. after i do that ill let u know if it worked!

thanks sooooo much Barbara! right after i did that for PT my VF stopped working. i called my brother-in-law down begging him to help, i was in tears because i had been working on them for over a month and had over 80 trophies in all families. he tried restarting my PC and everything. nothing worked and i was about to go crazy. than i remembered about PT so i tried it with VF and it worked. i was soooo happy, and i just thought id write and let u know u not only saved my plants but u also saved my families! ty!

Vista's Date Execution Protection is a ROYAL PAIN. If I were you, I'd keep a copy of how to change it handy. For some reason, I had to change mine twice; I think when I had a windows update it reverted back.

yea i know i dont like vista, but it was already installed when i bought it, so i have to suffer! as long as i can play my games and browse the web i cant complain tho!
