Does anyone know where I can find directions on how to add mods to the game made by other users?

Go to the main forum page

http://www.ldwforums.com/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php/forum_summary

scroll all the way to the bottom and click on the VF Mods forum. Lady CFII has very good instructions on how to add mods to one's game. I just tried two of Lewanda's yesterday - I *love* the transparent tool tray!

If I get brave enough to download a mod, does it affect all of my homes?

Yes, because it changes the basic image files that control the look of the homes. But as long as you've backed up the original files, you can always put things back as they were. smile

You're welcome! I posted about it a few days ago ... I downloaded the kids' bedroom (along with all the houseplants and accessories) first, then tried the transparent tool tray and the enhanced garden.

One of these days I may try some mods, myself, but I don't have the recommended graphics software at this time.

Thanks Riograce. I tried one of Lewanda's mods, but I must have done something wrong. The sofas were a nice burgundy, but there was a line through the master/kids bedroom and part of a plant was on the floor in front of the parent's bed.

I followed all of Lady's suggestions, and of course backed up the files, but I guess I messed something up. Gotta try again.

ajuma, If you download One of the 'map' mods, like the couch or bedroom set you should download all of the mods that lewanda has available. It worked correctly but since you dont have the all of the map mods from lewanda it will leave the line that you mentioned. I hope this helps. if i didnt explain it well, let me know and i will try to explain in more detail..

Savannah is right - the room mods are done by using the game 'maps'. Look at the image files in the game and you'll see what I mean. An alteration to one affects the others.

Lewanda mentions in the posts that accompany her files whether or not you need to download one of her other mods to go with the one you're looking at. Go back and read whatever post was with the mod you're trying to use, and then download whatever other mod she mentioned. I guarantee that'll fix your problem! smile

Hi ajuma, it looks like the other members have answered your questions quite well. If you have any more though please feel free to PM me. Big hugs!

I meant also to tell you that if you want to use one of my mods in one room but not another I will be glad to fix the maps for you. Just let me know which room you want to change.

ajuma, I finally quit smoking after many years. Maybe, if your mood is right it will help. Stop buying them and I'll say a prayer for you.

Thanks everyone, both for the mod help and the quitting smoking help. I've been smoking about 3 packs a day and I finally decided to quit on my b'day weekend. It's been 3 days now...tough, but I'm doing it.

Lewanda, thanks for your mods. Even though I haven't been successful yet, I've see your screenshots and they're great!

Vanna, thanks...I guess I'll have to find more things that I like...which I'm sure I will!

I see a post in here about a burgandy couch. I have looked through all of the mods and I don't see it. Could someone be so kind to post the link for me?

Thanks

Hi ajuma! If you haven't been able to find the mods section yet here is the link:
http://www.ldwforums.com/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php/forums/61/1/Virtual_Families_Mods

The burgandy sofa is in a set of mods for the family room under the title "Leather Seating for Fam. Room ". If you use the burgandy family room sofa's you'll need to download my other modified maps first THEN save the burgandy couch mod over them. It will replace three of the other maps. When it asks if you what to say ok. If you still need help please PM me..That way I'll be sure to see your question.

Lewanda, the small tree in the hallway has gotten lopped off at the top. :-( I know it has to do with the maps not matching up, but I'm not sure which ones I need to have working together.

I have your kids' bedroom in shades of blue, the quilt set in the master bedroom, and the standard family room with all the plants and accessories you added.

Thanks for any suggestions!
