The child lives at home until it is approximately 19 years old, which takes approximately 38 hours of real life time. The exception is if there is a child under the age of 19 when you choose to begin your second generation. If that happens, the child will immediately become "of age" and will be an adult capable of inheriting the house for the second generation if you choose.
