That kind of thing will happen if you purchase a game from one game site and then download and install an update or trial from another game site. The game activation methods used by each game site are incompatible with those of other sites. To correct the problem, you will need to download and re-install the game from the site where you made your purchase.
As explained in
Arthur's post announcing the 1.00.05 update:
Note that we have delivered this version to all the other distributors (Big Fish Games, Real, Yahoo, etc), so if you bought the game at another game site, you should contact them for the status of the game update. If you bought your Virtual Families game from one of the other game distributors, DO NOT download and install the updated version from our site. Doing so will cause your game to revert to a demo, since other game site's activation methods will not work with our version of the game.
If you did not buy Virtual Families directly from LDW, then you will need to wait until the site where you made the purchase updates Virtual Families to 1.00.05. Most game sites perform quality testing on game updates before they offer them to their customers.
