Here’s a question. I guess this may be a cheating question, but I am curious. I have seen some of my children “afraid of the lightning” when it is storming. I never thought much of it they seem to grow out of it… Except my13 year old boy whom I just found in his parents closet. He has always been afraid and still is. I suppose he could grow out of it or I could suck it up for 5 years until he goes to collage, but I wonder if the “desensitization kit” would work on him. This is NOT one of his “dislikes”, he has no dislikes. So that’s my question, does the DK only work on listed dislikes? I suppose I would have to give it to him while he was being scared? I don’t know. Just curious, and I look at this as a question I would ask my “online parents group” so this isn’t really cheating… is it?

On a side note this is the same 13 year old boy that decided it would be a good idea to “jump on the bed” while both of his parents were already there “trying to make a baby”. I think he has issues. But because of this I may have to choose him as the heir to the house, just so I can continue to be entertained by his behavior.

I have had both a child and an adult with this action. The adult actually hid in the laundry room during a storm with lightning. So, don't expect him to grow out of it. I think it's just another random behavior they do. I thought it was rather funny myself, but I can't say I ever saw him do it again.

2fun, the desensitization kit won't work on behaviors Sweetie. It doesn't always change likes and dislikes either. I had a kid that didn't like birds, and as I really love to hear them call the birds I tried it on him. He still didn't like birds after using it. If you think your peep's behavior is aggravating wait until you get a kid that doesn't like to run.

How about scolding him when he hides from the lightning? (No, I wouldn't actually do this to a real child. wink ) I think it's cute when they do different things like that anyway.

I've had adults look for attention, too. Usually a new mother...I tell her, "Sorry but it's not all about you anymore." laugh
