Just wondering why one would want to pay for the doctor if you can figure out what medication they need?

I always check with the doctor if one of my little family have constant coughs etc. and look a bit run down. Many times the doctor has told me to use penicillin or something else. If the results of test are negative then it is good to know that there is "no infection" if you are worried about one of your little peeps. So, no it is not a waste of money.

When you have the money in the bank then you just treat your little family as you would your real life one - any doubts, send for the doc!! smile

Hi Melissa,
If your peep is sick, and you treat him/her with the medicine for their illness, and then not too long afterward is showing more symptoms of sickness THEN you need the doctor consultation. When that happens there's usually an underlying infection...sometimes a fatal illness that if not taken care of may kill your little peep.

Another reason to consult doctor is to learn if any of your peeps needs a baby boost. Starting from the 2nd gen, I always buy a doctor culsult to each of the couples and make sure they have no problems about having a baby. If they do I inject them a dose of baby boost.

do you inject both people or just one with the baby boost? I always inject one of them no matter what! I didn't realize the dr would tell you about that. do you just go to the doctor while they're healthy and he'll tell you?

I just took your advice for one of my little guys who keeps getting headaches and sore throats. The doctor suggested the vancomycin and an anti-inflammatory, so I followed the directions and got the award for curing a grave illness.I was shocked, I didn't even realize he was that sick!

If the peep needs a baby boost to have kids, in the doctor's report it will be written so. But if he/she doesn't need it, nothing about babies will be mentioned in it. I always buy a consultation for each of my couples before trying for the first baby, just to be sure.

If it says "a bit sick" I just move them around until I get a diagnosis for free. If it says that the person is weak, that's when I buy a doctor's consultation.

You are just treating the symptoms, but not necessarily the illness. If a peep is sick regularly, even if it seems to be cleared up each time by a pill or other medicine, the likelihood is that they have a grave or serious illness that will need a doctor's consultation to diagnose. They will not necessarily show as "weak" until the illness has become more serious.

Sorry, I wasn't clear in my post.

As far as I know, both peeps may be in need of a baby boost. Doctor's consult tells that if they need it or not. Beginning from my 2nd gens I began buying it for both of my peeps at the start of the new generation.

However, I don't think it is a necessity. In my first gens I didn't buy doctor's consult (didn't have enough money, and also I didn't know he would advice about that subject), and had 6 kids in each of them. Much later a peep got ill in one of the families, and after visiting the doctor I learned that the guy needed some baby boost. Then I bought one for his wife and she also needed baby boost (but they had 4 or 5 kids at that time). This was a couple which had several unsuccesfull attempts before each kid. So in later generations, I took this habit of visiting the doctor at the beginning.

Still, I think it is also possible to inject each peep a dose of baby boost, and forget about the doctor. As I understand, even if your peep doesn't need it, using won't give any harm.
