I am on my 5th family and still have not had any oven fires so I can praise anyone for putting it out. How can I get an oven fire?

make them make a meal then when they go to turn off the oven interrupt them. make sure they dont turn it off, then it should catch fire!

I have tried the trick above to try and get an oven fire but so far it has not worked. How long does it take and how many times do I have to stop them from trying to turn the stove off. My little people say they are turning off the stove instead of the oven, does that make a difference?

I had attempted waiting for the fire to start by interrupting my people every time they went to turn the stove off, I waited two hours before giving up....
As far as I can tell its fairly random and the stove does not need to be on long for it to happen. In my most recent family the single person living in the house at the time started to make dinner and as she was cooking the stove caught on fire (not that she noticed), it was the first time the stove had been used too.

I have had both the oven and the dryer lint catch fire when they have not even been used--no meal cooked and no laundry done, but suddenly they are on fire.

Yep, that's true ... My first oven fire occurred early in my very first family, before I had solved the necessary puzzles to put it out. In fact, I think that's what caused me to come into the LDW forums: concern that I was going to burn my house down before I ever got really started! Same thing happened to me too. On my very first playing of the game, within 5 minutes of my characters new life, the oven was on fire and i had no idea how to fix it.

Ever since I upgraded the toolbox I never had another oven fire (and I had LOTS before that happen). About turning off the oven, I always praise them when they do it, but I'm used to stop the action of "preparing a meal" before they do - and the oven was never on fire again.

ok i am having this same problem. the praising the (folowing) 9 behaviours trophy and all i need is an oven fire. How sick are we, BTW: TRYING to catch your kitchen on fire! yes that is funny. I guess we're ALL sick as we sit around waiting for our peeps to die so we can move to the next level! ajuma, what do u mean by that? i have tried making a meal twice, with out turning off stove, and haaven't got one yet. but something very strange, i was doing laundry, and the machine lights were green and i did it again and i had a laundry fire. so i am surprised that it might not be the same for the oven fire. thanks for everyone's help, Xilodragon1

There is nothing that you can do to start a fire in the game. It's all random.

Too bad the trophy is not for the dryer lint fire, as I have more occurances of that than an oven fire. I guess my people are better chefs than the are laundry attendants.

Ever since I upgraded the toolbox I never had another oven fire (and I had LOTS before that happen). I know a couple of people have said that about the toolbox, but I have definitely had an oven fire with the toolbox upgrade. It took quite a while, but I finally got it & the trophy.

Me too. So may oven fires before the toolbox then a loooong wait before another which is fair enough. The toolbox upgrade is supposed to lessen the risks of a stove fire occuring as the tools are supposed to be more superior making any fixings last longer. I also praised my peeps each time the fixed the oven but the trophy took a while to 'kick in' I think it was the fifth time I praised my ma peep that the trophy notice finally popped up and appeared on the score board. Same with the hic cups too. Not had it occur on any other game though, so maybe it was a one off for me.

There is nothing that you can do to start a fire in the game. It's all random. Wow, if all these events are random I've got the most unlucky family! In the last 2 1/2 days I've had at least 6 oven fires, easily 8 sink leaks, and several of each shower and toilet clogs! And then there's the terrible emails that have taken huge progress and money. My poor family! My poor nerves! LOL Maybe I should buy that toolbox sooner than later.

Thanks kissy! I knew I shouldn't have bought that toolbox right away in generation 1.. it's best to wait to get the trophy first >_<

Nope, turning off the stove just means they hadn't shut it off after cooking a meal so you'll see a pot or pan on top of the stove cooking away.
Leaving it on won't start a fire just like all the other actions.. a fire is a completely random event just like the other appliances breaking down. If you do catch a fire, there's much more to it than just putting your person down on the stove, they'll just point out that the oven's on fire.

How do you put out the oven fire? I keep putting mine next to the oven and they say "The oven's on fire!" but I can't get them to pick up the extinguisher or get water or anything. I could use some help because now they can't eat!

You have to unlock the shed. Did you? Then you have to drag the person on it. It might take a few tries but eventualy you will get it!!!
