I thought there was a failsafe put in.

A family I had refused to have children. 15 times I tried, using everything I could and they would not have one. But, fear not, I thought, as I remember a failsafe was supposedly put in in case that happened. I was wrong.
My last person died and now the game is over. Nearly a month of work, gone cause the people would not have a child.
So, what was this failsafe that was put in? I don't think it works.

The failsafe was to prevent the buggy situation where the couple said "it's too soon..." basically forever. What do you mean that they refused? The only "refusal" in the game is arguing, but that's fairly easy to overcome with persistence. What did the doctor's consultation say about each of the would-be parents?

One of my families is like this. They "definitely" and "would be nice" want kids. Thankfully they had one, but each time after that they would refuse or argue. I pampered them so much to make sure they'd be in good moods, and have plenty of food, money, and even a bunch of house upgrades... but no! Baby boosters, etc, nothing worked. So I'm thankful they managed to have at least one. They were supposed to be my Middle-Class-working-huge-family Family! I also have one family who don't want kids, and they ended up with four! They had one on their own, and then adopted three more. Hah. ... Then I have my free spirited yoga family who had triplets and then two more singles. Anyway I think the adoption is supposed to be the failsafe? Kids randomly show up on their doorstep and you can adopt them. But my family who didn't want kids are the only ones so far to have them. I have three separate families just to make sure everything goes alright and I have "backups" just in case, so things don't happen like what happened to your family.

The couple did the baby dance at least 15 times and a child would never come. I tried giving them boosts, perfumes, everything and they would never have a child. Never did a doc's consult as that never occurred to me. Pretty frustrating. Like I said, a month of work down the drain cause the peeps would not do what they were told.

That's bad luck, but some people in real life never succeed in producing a baby. You can't blame it on a bug in the game since they did try but failed.

Actually I can blame it on a bug, but what's the point? Either way, my game is over. Maybe something should have been added, so the game doesn't just end after putting in so many hours.

Thats exactly what I think would be nice. That way you can continue playing and not start from scratch.

We could have a "Leave this house to a random Hobo" option.
LOL! Then the house might be ten times messier from the random hobo throwing parties because he is off the street. LOL

I am having that same problem. My couple is in their 60s. One dies, the other remarries. This keeps going on. I guess in their 60s they cant have kids because none of the produce any. They try though!

even if they argue, i keep putting them on top of each other, and eventually they try to make a baby. i ignore the arguing. it's really awful that the game had to end for you.

Thats exactly what I think would be nice. That way you can continue playing and not start from scratch. I can sympathise. I keep having to restart games but not because of bugs rather, because of my real family! I haven't had the no-kids problem yet but I am...hmmm...persistent! When I think they need a little one I keep hounding them evey 15 minutes or so for abit...about three/four times a day. And they only thought they had each other to argue with

i just wanted to say that i totally agree with the suggestion about having an option to inherit the house to some relative or nephew , so that we don't be forced to start from scratch , i think it's a great suggestion ,i really wish LDW would make a 'virtual families 2 " or soemthing like this that would have all the changes and suggestions that we have on our minds , many things could really be changed and be better in this game

I am real persistant to the point of nagging them when they argue. I even make them argue in the bedroom away from any kids they have already!! Makes me feel better when they aren't arguing in front of them.
I would like to see the house of to a distant relative too!! What a great idea. I have some families with close to $200 million and would hate to lose that.

This is happening in one of my families. They'll go try but they never have a baby. and they're in their mid-40s so not much time left for a baby.

Here's a few ideas: 1. a) If you have the money, give them both a shot of baby boost. b) Then put them together to try every 20 minutes or so until they produce a baby (usually works for me).
2. If they're arguing I keep putting them together until they go try and then follow b above.
3. I also remember someone saying they put perfume on their peeps and then put them together.
Make a back-up of your game just in case and good luck.

Also try the doctor's check on them, strange as this seems. Some have reported that baby boost seems to have better effect if it's been prescribed.

I also make sure that they: a) aren't hungry b) don't need a shower c) are well rested
It makes sense that if they are in a better mood, they might (I say might) be more successful at babymaking.
