Anything? I praise them for doing it, but I can't tell it does anything. I also have a 16 and 18 year old who are still at home. Is there a way to send them to college?

They will go to college on their own, at age 18, before they are 19. Studying doesn't really do anything in the game.

Yeah, studying doesn't do anything! Let's work them to death. Pull weeds; pick up socks, take out the trash, pick up laundry.

(my god, arnie, you're handsome!)

Hey, studying does help. If they didn't study and take all those online tests, they couldn't go to college and learn to be spammers! laugh

Caty... you always have to set them on the thing and have them do it. None of the little people will do the housework without prompt.

Huh...mine do! They wash dishes (even the tiny ones), do laundry, dust, cook, and clean the kitchen....All without my prompting. The only thing I have to make them do is pick up things and pull weeds. On occasion I might have to make one cook, but after one pat with the praise glove and a piece of candy he/she's hooked on cooking. smile

It depends what you mean by kids ... The teenagers (14-18) will study and carry out a lot of other school-related tasks like "researching a paper on the Internet" (meaning copying and pasting a Wikipedia article). wink They will also do a lot of the chores without prompting. The younger ones (up to 13) will carry out some chores, but not so many. They spend more of their time playing.

Hi

I had a 3 year old that fixed my computer router. I wish if we made them study more that they could have higher paying jobs when they inherited the house.

Nothing ...

I think it would be great if the studying was linked to a progress bar in a similar way to working on your career is ... maybe a grade level or grade point average.

My 3 year old kept trying to cook and setting the oven on fire so I had to discourage her from doing it, lol... Id pick her up and move her somewhere else so she'd forget about cooking for awhile, lol... It was very cute anyway...

I thought studying would make them better suited to a career later on. Now that I know otherwise, I will make them do all the housework instead.

I don't know. I gave them a encyclopedia and they went to study and doing their homework. At 2nd generation all of my sons got high level professions and good salaries. Am I lucky or it is my imagination?
I would like to read an official answer to this topic, if you don't mind smile

That's exactly what I thought would happen (if they studied more). At the same time, perhaps the studying=success ratio is already in the game, but because of how the game is programmed, it isn't intended to be measured by players.

Just a thought...

The housework that actually means something- ie the smudges, weeds, socks, and wrappers- don't get done without making them. That's what I meant.

Well, I haven't seen any correlation between the kids studying/doing homework and it mattering.
The little kids won't do homework on their own without prompting, but you praise 'em a couple times once they get around 11 or 12, but they'll start doing it all the time. It got to the point with my first slot/generation that they were dropping collectibles to go do homework.

Once one or both of the parents have died you will be able to choose who in the next generation will inherit the house and contents. If you choose Oriona you'll see her again as an adult, but if you pick one of the other kids you won't see her again, I'm afraid.

Yeah I had a four year old fix the router once. My little kids never want to do homework or anything but most of my older kids are pretty much addicted to studying.
