I think it is hilarious when they get a bug that they already have and sell the second one online, LOL. Too bad they can't also buy things online, maybe then they could buy the bugs they need to complete their collection, since they don't show up very often in their own lawns.

Yea, I thought it was funny too -- the idea of "selling" bugs, I mean, lol! And I know what you mean about them not showing up very often. I read that if you buy and use the Tropical Rainstorm that you'll see more bugs, but when I've tried using it, I don't see any more than when it just rains normally. So, I'm not wasting any more money on that stuff, lol!

Glad you mentioned that, I was considering trying the Tropical Rainstorm to see if I could conjure up more bugs, but I'll not bother now.

I read the same thing about the tropical rainstorm and tried it too. I actually had fewer collectibles show up.

I actually do buy the rainstorm. I can collect 1 or 2 bugs during that rainstorm, and that's definitely more than nothing when it's not raining!!

I've had some great luck using the tropical rain storm. Once I got three bugs including two rare one with one bottle. Just make sure you wait through the whole storm and a few minutes after- sometimes one shows up then.

I have consistantly had this problem with my first family. I started it before the .05 update. In my other families (started after the update) I use the tropical rainstorm and get at least half a dozen collectibles. They may be ones I have, but they do appear. Every time I use the tropical rainstorm in my first family I am lucky if I get 2 collectibles, and those two are usually common coins.

Has anyone else run into this?

I always use the rainstorm and usually get a few bugs and other items, I rarely get nothing at all. I now only need the moth to complete my collection which is being impossible to find, I was wondering, that as it's a moth maybe it only comes out at night. has anyone got it during the day?

I'm still waiting anxiously for a few of the rare bugs, but my peeps have always gotten their money's worth from the bottle of rain.... We might not find the bugs we're hoping for but there are always enough doubles of insects and other collectibles to cover the price of the bottle of rain.

And weirdo that I am, I have fun with it - I love to see the really little kids dragging that gigantic red butterfly into the house to sell it online. lol

I have good news (I think!)

Today I got another one of those e-mails from the neighbour talking about the weather machine - and, of course, it started raining.

I had had other mails like that before, but only now (as I'm desperate for bugs) I started to pay attention.

It rained the same amount as when you buy the bottle, but the number of bugs were amazing! I counted 3 common bugs, 2 uncommon ones and 1 rare bug (unfortunately not the one I needed, though).

Has any of you guys noticed the same thing?

What I have noticed is it does not matter. Sometimes I get alot of bugs (never what I want) and rare coins and twigs. Sometimes nothing at all! I like getting the emails from the neighbor though. I wonder what that weather machine looks like?

I never get bugs, mostly I find coins, then my 2 year old sells them, LOL!

I just had the weather machine e-mail and this is what I picked up:

• 2 common bugs
• 2 uncommon twigs
• 1 rare coin

Right after that, I used some bottled rain and got:

• 3 common bugs
• 2 common coins
• 1 common twig

As jeresandy said, I don't believe it matters as sometimes I'll get absolutely nothing and others I'll luck out. That's the whole point of something being rare I guess ^^

I just had a rain storm (normal) in one game and I got:
3 common bugs;
2 uncommon bugs - one of which was new to me in that game;
1 common and one uncommon twig;
5 coins of various sorts (at least one was rare but I'm not sure about the others- I have all the coins already).

That's probably been my best haul for some time.

Arnie, I have better luck with the natural rain too. As I don't really care that much about collectibles, most of my families haven't had a bottle of rain since way back in gen 1 or 2 when they got the trophy. lol

I FOUND ONE!!! YAY!!!

Now it's just one rare dragonfly to go!

When I've used the Tropical Rain bottle, I've gotten mixed results. Sometimes I get 2 items; however, my record haul was 12 items. That was a lot of scrambling for my peeps, but it was worth it. I may not get any of the new items I need, but I get a lot of money for multiple people on one collectible!

Also, did you know you can get money for putting more than one person on a new item? Just pick up the first person and then the second. You'll get money for the second person's item. My son found this out for me. Amazing kid!
