I have notice that many times after raining there is no bugs appear in the yard. Is it a bug?

I actually got 2 bugs after one shower--the beetle and a centipede. Haven't seen another bug since, though.

I have 2 families (out of my 5) that have gotten a couple of bugs. They got them in first generation but now I'm in 3rd & 4th generation of my families and all 3 other collectibles are almost finished. I know the bugs are supposed to show up after rain/storm but it seems that when it rains or storms I get more of the other collectibles.

My one game, I was able to get half of the bugs. In another, only 1 so far. They are the hardest collectible to find.

I don't think it's a bug, I think LDW just wants it to be a challenge. I try to always search when it's raining and rarely find bugs. I just finished searching during a rain storm and found 5 coins and a leaf, no bugs whatsoever. Also, the guide states "Bugs only appear when it's raining", but not "When it's raining bugs will appear".

I'm finding the lack of insects my biggest frustration... it's difficult to maintain enthusiasm for the game when in essence you're just killing time waiting for some bugs to appear. I'd really like to see new puzzles and trophy options made available each time a career upgrade is purchased.

I also wanted to add that maybe we're just not seeing them. After all, a couple of the most common type of bugs are the most difficult to spot (caterpillar and grasshopper) and it is harder to spot a collectable when it's raining because the raindrops look like the sparkle that comes from a collectable.

I've acquired all but one of the bugs in one or another of my family sessions, so I know what to expect when then finally do appear. (The latest upgrade (.05) seemed to release the appearance of the violet fly for me.) I just wish I had something interesting to do while I wait for the full set to appear. I think what's frustating is that there's nothing I can do to move the game action forward and just have to wait fatalisticaly for the events to occur. I've bought and used every bottle of rain made available in the store, but the results are disappointing. I'm a problem solver by nature, so passively waiting for events to occur is hard for me...

ya i hardly ever see any bugs let alone new ones. i mean, what is it's problem. i really think ldw should fix this. (oh and , i know this is off topic, but it goes with what I'm saying, but maybe ldw could fix the random event schedual thing or whatever, cause i hardly ever see any events.)

The events and collectibles work as intended. The only reason it wouldn't is if your computer clock has been changed.

Yup almost on my fith generation and i only have a couple and I even have them glowing so the can be a bit tricky to find

Re rain and bug appearances: Decided to do a list of what has
appeared when it rains in my games. Note, I have the color mod
change, so collectiables are usually easy to spot. And I am on the 8th or 9th generation for each family. Coins are done for all and I need anywhere from 6 to 1 in the other categories.

Purchased rain storms: 20 storms and NO UNCOMMON OR RARE BUGS
appeared. The most common of the 'commons' are the coins.
Which we all finish fairly rapidly. So,common bugs appeared 14 times; other commons [never photos]20 times. Did get 3 rare and
4 uncommons.....a very sparse return!!!

Random rain storms: 38 storms, 2 new uncommon bugs and 1 rare bug [for my peeps, that is]out of 27 uncommon/rare finds. 30 of
the storms had common bugs appear and all 38 storms had common
others.

Weather rain man: 6 storms, with 2 having no collectiables, 1 rare [have], 1 uncommon [new], along with 3 common
bug & 3 other commons.

Not rain related: Neighbor spys rare collectiable:
Happened 7 times.....3 with nothing and 4 with a rare, of which
I already had.

LDW group.....there has to be a better return to keep one's interest going for the collectiables, don't you think?

I am also getting very frustrated about this. I am on my 15th generation and have ALL the other collections completed but cannot get the last bug to finish. I need the moth, I am thinking of switching over to night mode as moths come out at night dont' they. you never know.. might work.

I'm on my 13th and still waiting for the dragonfly. I don't know if it makes much of a difference whether is day or night. What I know is that the last rare bug I got it was during the night (a blue butterfly).

Do any of you guys think that according to the kind of bug it'll appear at night or during the day? Like, I need a dragonfly and in RL they usually appear during the day.

I wouldn't think it makes any difference. To code that behaviour would add a layer of complexity without much real need.

I scan, scan, scan. A blue butterfly! Yes! Grab a kid, drop her on it, pick her up and head for the Collections screen... No blue butterfly? Go back to map screen. It was right there on the beach! Wait... Beach? No! Wrong game! Ugh!!

I have been waiting for a blue butterfly in both VV2 and VF Guess I will keep on waiting.

LOL So close but so far knk! I do have the blue butterfly on one of my families.. it's too bad "copy + paste" doesn't really work on those darn collectibles

BLUE BUTTERFLY, RARE.....Rejoice and frustration. Appeared in
one family, picked up and let peep take all the way to the cabinet, to RARE to risk. Hah!! Checked collections and does not appear. Despair. Another family, raining of course, and collected....hurrah, there it is in the collectible, quite lovely. Within less than 30 seconds another blue butterfly appears. Crazy world.
Did finish another photo collection today, at least.

Tada! Another rare bug....and this was so rare I almost didn't see it......the DRAGONFLY! Daytime, scanning and caught just
the tinyest hint of light, maybe palest of blue in the grass. Was sure it was nothing, but put a peep there just because.
Now I am going to look much more carefully in the other families, as of course the wonderful dragonfly appeared in the family that still needs 5 more bugs.....not the family needing only one):
Moonlyght, doubt that the dragonfly will always appear where I found it.....grass left of workroom and at an angle closer to the corner of house......BUT we do know it will come out in the daytime!

I didn't think that the blue butterfly was so hard to get because I got it in my first fam right away, but I've never seen another one now that everyone is mentioning it!!

I do have all of the bugs...but of course not all in any one family! I restarted a game and got the moth and the big black bug IMMEDIATLY!! but do ya think I could get the black one or the dragonfly in my longest running family? Of course not!

Maybe NO ONE will ever get to 100 trophies! lol

I finally found a moth, 2nd to oldest family. Last night, the neighbor sent the email about the weather machine. Oh joy oh joy! Found it on the hose next to the back door. Was real easy to see.

Moonlyte, I to decided to "cheat" with borg's shiny square collectables. Still haven't found any of the rare ones I need, but they sure make the screen look pretty!!

Has anyone experimented with the liquid sunshine? I think I'll start buying that and keep records. Maybe there's something LDW didn't tell us about LS!

I've just closed the game after applying 2 rain bottles in a role! Nothing happened....

For some reason in the last 2 days ive found quite a few new rare bugs in each family so my hope in completing the collection has risen dramatically!

Moan and groan! Second time this week collected a bug to then have it not appear 'on record' One was the rare blue butterfly, the other was uncommon beetle.
Detailed it to tech problems, but that sure won't give me those badly needed, oh so precious BUGS!!!!

Have to take half the moan and groan back. Do believe that the uncommon beetle I collected was actually one I already had....let the thrill of the hunt overtake me!
No rationale for the rare blue butterfly, though.

I sometimes find the rare ones come in bulk. If i find a purple bug in one family, i'll find it in a few families in the next few days. Cos i'd never seen a blue butterfly EVER until last week and now 4/5 families have it!

BTW, I have to agree with Lostie. My family was missing one bug, and this morning it appeared in another one, where it was already collected. At that point I thought there is no chance I get it where it's actually needed any time soon. But five minutes later it popped up twice during one rain session. Now it's the only family with bugs collection completed. Go figure..

Congrats on completing your bug collection! I'm not sure if it's a good idea to attach a photo of it completed since that could be considered a spoiler.. just a thought!

I just got caught in the rain in my main family, saw a grasshopper and ladybug but not the final 2 I need

I got 4 bugs in one tropical rain shower this morning. Two were new bugs, two were repeats. (This family recently sold their collections and is starting over.)

Probably there's nothing more annoying in this game than finding rare collectibles you don't need. They appear like once in a zillion years (except coins, of course) and finally when you got one it's the one you have and not one of the other three you don't have! Urghhh!..

Woo HOO! I got my first snail ever this evening! In real life I don't want snails in my yard (they love to chow down on my dahlia's).

Yes, it's odd that they're uncommon in the VF garden. They are all too common in my garden!

I GOT THE DRAGONFLY!! Now I only need one more to have all the collections finished. That great big black beetle. It's been a little over 3 months I think since I started this first game. I'm so excited! 3 more months til I get the next one!

Its always that last bug that never appears!!! I have 3 families only waiting for one bug!!

Two families only need the purple bug, and in the last 2 days they have found every other rare bug at least twice between them except that one!!

I think my eyes are going. Just now, during a rainstorm, I thought I'd spotted two rare bugs. The first I could have sworn was the dragonfly, but it was in fact the translucent common coin. Then I spotted something odd-looking down by the gate. I dropped a peep on it and silently cheered when she bent down to pick it up. Then I saw it was just a weed.

All I found during that storm was one of the common red butterflies, which I seem to see every time it rains. Surely butterflies don't come out in the rain, anyway, do they?

Aw.. sorry arnie! That must've felt terrible seeing it was a weed. Sometimes I get excited just from seeing the pet lying down on the grass thinking it's a bug >_<

I don't think butterflies or moths come out in the rain in real life, go figure! I'm more likely to find one fluttering around in my house during a rainstorm.

One of my families who needed the purple bug.... FOUND THE PURPLE BUG!!!! in exactly the same place as the one i found yesterday in the other family who didnt need it!!
Couldnt believe my eyes when I saw it!! I normally let the peeps pick the collectables up and just move them to let them drop it to save them walking all the way inside. But with this one i savoured the moment (and was a bit scared in case it didnt register!!!) and let the guy walk all the way inside!

So now I finally have one family with 100 trophies!!!!

Funny thing is, thats actually the family I started last!

Edit: The first thing I did straight after was buy a bottle of tropical sunshine for my peeps! Think they've had enough rain to last them a lifetime!

My first family is on generation 18 and they have 96 trophies. They still need 2 rare bugs and perfect match trophy.

Second family have 97 trophies and only need the purple bug.

Third family have 96 trophies and need the dragonfly and a lottery win.

Fourth family have 97 trophies but still need 3 rare bugs.

And my fifth family is complete! yay!!!

I'll try and send you (and everyone else) magical vibes to help with the bugs!! But i have to keep some for myself as im still gonna be sitting through endless rain staring at grass to find the rest for my other famailes!

I GOT IT!!!!!! The last bug!!!!!!!!!!!! And ya know, it wasn't a rare one after all...it was an uncommon one! Woke up this morning, checked on my peeps and it started to rain. So I'm having my two elderly peeps clean up a little while scanning the area and lo and behold...I see a bug...and I thought...I THINK that's the one I need...dragged my mom onto to the bug and it said "you found a new uncommon item"!!!!!!! I watched her walk all the way to the cabinet! How great it was to see those 3 awards pop up on the screen!

Now I only need 3 more: 6 socks, 11 spots and the perfect match.

BTW, this is my longest running family...but only gen 8 as they're paused 4 days a week while I'm at work.

I ended up using a collectibles mod to differentiate between common, uncommon and rares so I don't get my hopes up when I see one pop up.

By the way, used two rain bottles today. One gave me absolutely

Thanks! I got the last bug during a regular rainstorm, not the weather machine or the bottled rain. I use the collectables mod too, since my eyes aren't what they used to be! Like Arnie, I kept seeing bugs that weren't bugs! I also had a hard time seeing the green wrappers in the kid's room, as they blended in with the floor and the toys so well!

I got a bit bored with my 5 families. All of them needed the dragonfly, and one needed the fire stopper, I had all the upgrades for all of them. I read about the rainbow haired family so thought I would keep the one family that had 96 trophies waiting for those last two bugs moth and dragonfly and lottery. Then started over on the other 4. What was the very first bug?!!!? The dragonfly. Could not believe it. Now that is only with one family, but I thought I would share. Plus it was not hard at all to see. Having fun starting over and do it right the 1st time.

When I was waiting for my last one, I kept watching this topic, hoping that other's success would rub off on me....and it did!!! Gmom, yes it was only 8 generations, but for 7 of the weeks of playing, my game was paused from Monday morning until Thursday afternoon, as I have to live in 2 places for my job. Actually it took about 15 weeks. I'm not sure how many days it takes for one generation. Anyone know?

I calculated it to be around a week for one generation depending on how long your peeps live and whether the last child is still in the house after the parents pass away or not

For example, a 60 year old couple who started off at age 25 that passes away lived for 122.5 hours which translates into 5 days.

I haven't checked for bugs in a while but I'll remember to never give up on them, thanks for the encouragement ajuma

It's so funny, cause it's been like 1 month that I get all focused every time it started to rain , and yesterday when it did I was ok, here we go get the bug, then I remember -I got them all! It's like something is now missing in my life - to try and find the bug. *lol*

Think next time that collector guy comes I'll send them all to him and start all over again.

I thought about maybe releasing some new collectible mods to make the game exciting again once you finish your first set of collectibles.. like switching the bugs to dolls (lol) or coins to stamps.

The way you can use this is after the event where you sell your collectibles Just one of the many ideas I had randomly. Lol

I still need one bug (the dragonfly) and one twig/leaf (maple seed) to complete my collectibles. I'm on the 10th generation. I just keep getting the same ones over and over again. At least now I have hope as I see others have completed all their collectibles.

I love the Isolan collectibles! More options are great but it does get so hard to choose which ones to use and when. Now you can finish two new types of collections!

I got 43 collectables and I still wanting now all 5 bugs to complete all cellectables. They seem not to show up. Always get the coins though. That is in my second family game in their 11 or 12 gen. In my first game I started got 41 and that too is mostly the bugs. In my other 3 games say I found 35 collectables give or take.

What are isolan collectibles? You know what I wish? I wish they would let me buy more than one bottle of rain at a time. That way I could just wait until I had like 8, and have it rain back to back to back to back... And hopefully find something. How long do the rainshowers last anyways? Feels like forever when you're looking for a bug... And it's not showing up.

I've been using the Tropical rain to encourage bugs to appear, but since I did the update, the tropical rain doesn't work - no rain and the bottle doesn't go away until you sell it back to the store. Anyone else have this problem?

Lady Jane, how are you using the bottle? Do you try to pour it on the ground, or do you give it to a peep?

I've been pouring it on the ground, it worked before the update
but not now.

I always give the bottle to a peep - it worked every time. But I just give it to adults.

The rain water can be given to any peep, from toddler to old.
I usually rev action up a bit by taking my peep out the stairs
to the yard first, and then give them the bottle.

Bug question here for any who have found the dragonfly.....
If you found it more than once was the location the same?
The only time I have found the so rare df, was near the long
flowerbed of the shed.
Sure would make the hunt easier if position was the same each time. Have noted that, for me at least, all the nuts/twigs seem
to appear in the backyard [behind kitchen/living room].

I think the key to making bugs appear is having a pet. I noticed early on that if you try to make the cat or dog come inside during a storm, they head into the bushes in the left back corner for the cat and the right back corner for the dog. I've played several experimental families where I didn't get a pet because they are always annoyingly under foot. In those families I almost never got bugs. So I've started a couple of experimental families where I have a pet, and I've noticed that if you chase the dog into the bushes during rain, you get leaves and twigs and an occasional bug. If you chase a cat into the bushes during a storm, you get bugs. You won't necessarily get a rare one every time, but you will get bugs.

I've also noticed that if you really keep on top of looking for collectibles when you first start a game, you can get over half of them in the first hour or so of play. I started one this morning where I had 27 collectibles after the first hour. Also, they don't have to take the collectible all the way to the chest or the computer, if you pick it up and drop it, it goes where it is supposed to go, and you get credit for it. That speeds things up so that you can get a bunch of collectibles while you are pulling weeds and cleaning up the house, even with only one person. And lastly, pulling weeds seems to stimulate the appearance of coins, particularly in rain. All of these make sense, as disturbing bushes (cat and dog) will scare bugs out or make twigs, leaves and nuts fall, and disturbing soil, especially during rain, turns artifacts out of it, like arrowheads and coins, in real life. It looks like LDW programmed real life scenarios into the game.

Also, some of the bugs are really hard to see and easy to miss. The grasshopper is almost invisible in the grass. I've found the dragonfly once on the hose in the backyard, and it was transparent and almost invisible on the hose.

The guy I started this morning is already up over thirty collectibles. He has almost all the leaves and twigs, including three rare ones and almost all the coins as well. I haven't even gotten him married yet, as I'm waiting for a same career, but he's nearly finished the collectibles.

My little family that I started 30 hours ago now has 35 of 48 collectibles, which is by far the best they've ever done. They've got all but one rare coin (the red one with the square hole) and all but one rare nuts and twigs (the shamrock). They've also got all two rare picture pieces and one uncommon bug.

Continuing on the theory of disturbing the bushes causing collectibles to appear, I've been working with my new little family for 54 hours now. I have not played 54 hours straight, but they've been in existence for 54 hours. I played for about 1 1/2 hours when I first started them, and I've been checking in several times a day since. When I first started, I was trying to hold out for a perfect match, so all I had was one little guy. I didn't have the money for a pet, so I've been casting about for other ways to disturb the bushes and it dawned on me: THAT IS WHAT THE RED RUBBER BALL IS FOR! So I have been beating the heck out of the shrubbery with that darned ball. I've been getting collectibles quicker than I've ever done before. I got a cat as quickly as I could, and kept it chased into the bushes. When I finally got him married (I gave up on the perfect match) and had kids, I started praising the kids for all the things I used to scold them for. I've been being the good parent and praising them for studying and doing chores and scolding them for poking the plants, digging in the yard and wasting time looking for bugs. Then it dawned on me that when they do those things, those are the behaviors that would knock down leaves and nuts, scare out bugs and turn out artifacts in real life. I've been beating those poor bushes so much today with pets, kids and the rubber ball that in real life they'd have nothing green left on that lot. However, I've got 40 out of 48 collectibles in 54 hours. I've got the whole picture, which I don't think I've ever had before. I've got all but one coin. I've got all but one nuts and twigs (I misspoke yesterday, I was missing the shamrock and the pine cone and I've got the shamrock now). I've got six bugs. I've never had a game go even close to this well.

Besides all that, now that I know I don't have sit and watch them drag the collectible into the house, my guy has progressed faster in his career than I've ever had one do. He is 40 and just about to get level eight, despite being sued for infringement twice.

Sometimes with these experiments we just happen to get more collectibles because we're finally paying close attention to them. I think you should try to compare these results with what happens when you don't disturb the shrubbery, that would be pretty interesting to see.

It definitely makes sense logically though since that is where the twigs and bugs would be hiding in real life. I'm just not sure to how far the game's programming will go.

OK... my big problem is I can't get any bugs... I have had the same 4 repeatedly appear, but none past that... and I have more than 12generations on at least 2 of my families...

i don't know where exactly to look for bugs ??
for example : the picture parts are known to appear near the shed ... so where exactly do bugs appear ? i search for them every time when it rains and never found any till now , and if anyone can post some screenshots for where did they appear and how do they look like while the rain drops are already sparkling and it's not easy to see them !!

I've noticed that bugs usually appear in 4 areas: near the shed, near BOTH water hoses and below the workroom. Bugs don't always come out during the rain, they're just more likely to. There are a number of mods make that make spotting the collectibles easier. Just search "collectibles" and you will find a number of them.

Here are a few:

Some of these mods change the collectibles into other images. Personally I use Borg's. Here's a screenshot of a dragonfly. It was found near the lower water hose:

Well, 2 months after one family completing their bug collection, I finally completed it with another family!! So thats 2 out of 5 have all collections complete.

i tried this and it really helped a lot with finding bugs , throwing the red ball at the plants many times at the beginning of a rain
also if you have the bottle of the rainy weather you can throw the ball first then use the bottle

every time i do this i get at least 1 bug

Why does everyone find bugs except me!!? I have found all the coins with one of my families but I can't seem to find bugs!! Where do I look?
