Hey, guys!

I was wondering if some of you could tell me what exactly Village Sim is about? I've seen the game synopsis and it sounds interesting, but I'd like more info!

If I like what I hear, I might get the PC version when it comes out.

I do play Fish Tycoon, so I'm not a total newbie when it comes to LDW games.

Hi, Rainbowfish,

If you have a Palm OS device, you could download the trial version and find out for yourself.

If you don't have one, then I guess you could check thru the VS section here and also over at 1src.com. I think you will get plenty of info. The game synopsis tells it best, so I wonder what else could we tell you other than get it if you like to play God?! Hehe!

Fssia,

No handheld devices whatsoever - unless you count my cellphone. hehe!

I've been going through the VS section, yeah.

and thanks for the link. I'll check it out soon!

I know the overview. I just wanted to know what you guys liked about it.

Okay, Okay, I'll bite. I'm too eager to wait for the trial version in Windows. LOL.

Hmmm...what do I like abt it? It's hard to put into words but I can try.

I guess one of them is the challenge of rebuilding a viable village in the new island home with the original 5 displaced villagers.

The puzzles are usually the ones that work me really hard. After that, it's just to satisfy my curiousity on how things work in VS, eg. if I've Masters in Farming breeding with Masters in Medicine, what kind of skills will the kid inherit and stuffs like that.

I started with the Easy game. Solved that, then I proceed to the Normal game and last but not the least I challenge the Hard game. It's the same game but the difficulty level makes life harder for the villagers and makes it more challenging for me.

There are also some fun/ cute things you would observe or find. Things that may surprise you a bit the first time you encounter it.

Then there is the many approaches you could take to tackle the game. It's for me a kind of exploration and discovery, I guess.

It sounds cool, thanks. I'm definitely trying out the trial version when it comes to Windows.

No problem, Rainbowfish. Glad I could help convince you, hehe!

Too bad you don't have a Palm device, it's more fun on a portable device, so you could check it more often. That's why I still prefer Palm version of the Isola trilogy to Windows version.

A college student on a budget can not afford a Palm device.

On the upside, my computer is portable. It's a laptop. I usually bring it on vacations and trips.

At the moment, my classes are over the Internet, so I can stay home and close to my computer all day with no problem.

I hope that they come out with it soon! Like, really really soon. I've been saving up my spare coins and I have just nearly enough to afford another game.

Do you have any idea how soon it'll be? I hope by the end of the month.

LOL! I have absolutely no idea whatsoever when it will be released. We'll need to ask Arthur or Carla abt that.

Ahhh it's a portable PC, well, close enough I guess. Just much heavier and bulkier but you may get more out of the Windows version of VS based on how FT on Windows seems to have been given extra stuffs as compared to Palm version.

Ah, asking the developers directly... hmm.

Do you think that they'll actually answer such a question or just leave us all in the dark?

Well, heavy, yes, and the battery drives me crazy but, ah, as you said, the windows version could be better than the palm version.

And, yes, I've heard about the extras in the Windows version of Fish Tycoon. Did you know that there's no seahorse in the Palm version? I was surprised to find that out.

Thanks, Ladycfii.

Hmm. Only 45% at the moment. Definitely not coming out by the end of March.

Rainbowfish, I was dumbstruck when I heard that there is a seahorse in FT. I thought I've missed it all these times. Only after enquiring, then I found out that it's in Windows version.

The dev team here is pretty responsive. But I guess they can't tell you something they dunno or not sure of themselves.

Hmmm...I really am curious of what extras did they put in for VS for Windows. I have yet to install and play FT for Windows. Starting a new game always demands a lot of attention. I don't want it to distract me when I work. To be honest, I have only played 1 FT game on my Palm so far. After finding all the Magic Fishes, I have paused the game and have yet to embark on a new game.

LOL. Well, I dunno about the seahorse - I've played two games so far, and just started a third game yesterday. In the first game, I got the seahorse. In the second game, I didn't get one, to see what difference it made. I don't know about the others, but it did zilch in my games. I mean, I didn't see any difference in the life span of third-level hybrids or second-level hybrids, for that matter. It probably works best in level one, as seeing its ability is environmental improvement, but who can afford it in level one??? LOL!

Yes, there's that. LOL. I wonder if the devs would tell us what component they're working on now? And which platform? I understand they're doing both Windows and Mac versions at the same time...

LOL. Yes, it's distracting. However, the first few hours are actually boring... it takes two hours for the baby fish to develop into adults, and I only have to feed them twice in that time span. Suffice it to say, I get a lot of homework done.

At the moment, I'm doing a little bit of, ah, research. In my second game, I'm working on all possible genera crossing, and I'm actually almost done. I only have the bananafish and the quicksilver generas left to do. In my new game, I'm currently researching level two enviro, and breeding goldbulb hybrids like crazy. I set the price at such a point where they do sell, but one gotta be patient about the yelling customers. lol.

It's 55% now! We have huge traction. Expect that number to move steadily.

Regarding extras in Village Sim for Windows/Mac: Yes, there will be new content.

Hmm...Seahorse is useless when you've done your environment research to its max? So do you mean it's useful in Level 1 and 2 only? And when you buy the Seahorse, does it appear in both tanks or just one tank? If it costs a bomb and can only be used at 1 tank at a time, then might as well invest the $ in environment research.

I see you're FT lover and fan. Good for you! Good for me too cuz I know who to ask for tips when I start playing FT for Windows.

I think the reason why FT for Windows will distract me is I am a nervous & impatience person, so I check it very often. Only when I have third levels in features that ensure survivals then do I become more relax and only check it once in a while. Same for PT and VS. It's just how am I as a person.

Well, Arthur himself has replied abt the progress. So probably by June, VS for Windows will be available?! Or am I too positive/ naive?

Today I finished the medium difficulty game of Village Sim. My first experience with the game got me about half way through when my Palm battery took a digger. Definitely worth playing this one, especially if you like sim games. I found that I got to know my people and their abilities while unlocking the mysteries of the island. There are many facets to the game and I would be curious what the game is like on a PC or Mac, as I have a Palm version.

Definitely addicting....

I wouldn't say it's useless in level three. I only say that I see nothing advantageous to having a seahorse.

I don't know if it'd help in level one - I always pour any spare cash into research *shrug* so I've never had a seahorse in level one.

It only appears in one tank at a time, yes, and you can't buy another seahorse, so ... yeah. I'd suggest getting the research first.

LOL. Flattery will always get you some help.

LOL. I was that way too with FT at first (impatient and nervous), but as I learned the game and how it played, I got pretty confident and was able to leave it be for a while... I usually run it in the background on my computer or minimize it and do other stuff. Check on it every half hour or so. If I'm watching a TV show, I tend to shove it on screensaver so I can keep a eye on my fishies. lol.

Too positive? I'm thinking they'll have it done by April's end or May.

I hope.

Im kinda nervous id love to see a windows port and soon, but hasnt the windows version but in design since 2004, if its only 72% done logically that would mean by maybe next year or something we would see it done. EEK the thought brings a tear to my eye. Im not a very patient person, big downfall. lol

Village Sim for Palm OS was developed mainly during 2005 and released in May 2005.
We are now porting the game to Windows PC/Mac and it will be released around this summer!

Thank you i feel kinda stupid, i was looking at your join date in 04 and took that as the post date of that post. My fault. Its good news as well to know it will be out pretty soon. Has anyone figured out if we have to rebuy the pc version if we own the palm version, or can we trade keys or something. A little information here would be nice if possible. Im pretty curious because i know im really interested in the PC port of this.

Thanks
