I'm still on my first gen family, although they're down to mom (age 59) and the youngest child (age 15), and was wondering at what ages everyone else's "parents" passed away ....

I also have a cat, and have wondered how long it will be around, or if it lives forever. (Cats do, you know.) wink

My first adoptee passed at 58, and her husband passed at 61. So far, the dog seems to be sticking around wink

Only my 1st generation is gone. They went at 57 and 59. Second generation is in their early 50's so we will see soon. frown I am hoping they make it to 60 so I can get a trophy.

My oldest so far was 62. He might have been older as he died while the game was off I didn't see his age for several hours.

The pets seem to live forever so far as I can tell. One of my families is on its third generation and have a dog that started out halfway though the first generation.

60 is the oldest I have had so far, with my last two parents departing at the very same time (god bless them - they couldn't be apart), at 57.

I think the new update says it adds to the age, so I hope we can have our parents around a little longer than late 50's to early 60's as that is a bit depressing to those of us who might be closer to that age than we like to admit. laugh

I have one at 55 and I pause it when I am gone so I can make sure she doesn't get sick and die when I'm gone. I'm so glad they are living longer. I agree, it's a bit upsetting if they are close to our own ages. Real life people are living longer and longer. :-)

Ain't that the truth! laugh

Well, I just downloaded the .04 update, so when I finally move on to the next gen, we'll see how long they can go.

My oldest died during the night at some time. If they age 1 year every 2 hours then he was about 68 - 69 when he died. My wish for VF, after they pass, you could click on their pic on the family tab to see what they died of and their age at time of death.

my first generation all died late 50's. the second generation, around 60 to 62. they get old SOOO fast. at 45 they start to get stooped over and gray. i'm over 45 and i'm pretty sure i'm not stooped over and gray.
would it be too much to ask for a little hair dye in the next version?

Yeah, I'd like to see that, too. Since they do that in the VV games, it shouldn't be too difficult to do it in VF.

I started my families off again after the 05 update, so I'm just at the point where my 1st gen parents are about to go I think.

He is 68 & she is 66. I'm nervous each time I check in on them. I went to bed last night thinking I'd wake up and they'd be gone, but they're still hanging in there. I'll report back, hopefully in a few more VF years. smile

My most recent seniors passed away together just as I opened the game, so I didn't get to see their ages. I *really* wish LDW would patch VF to create an obituary or something that would show the ages of the peeps when they die.

i got them the treadmill when they were very young and had them use it frequently. i wonder if that's even relevant.

I had one that made it to 70 also, but what I've noticed is that most of my 1st generation peeps were fairly young -- around 60, 61. Then, as there is more money to upgrade, buy more leisure stuff for them, better food, etc. they tend to live longer. But yes, I wish that when one of them died that something would state how old they were and what level they were at in their career.

Whats the oldest you had your peep die?

I had a first generation couple who died within a minute of each other. The husband was 70 and his wife was 69. Sadly, she died before he did.

(And Michael was married, just changed to no after Cara passed)

What version do you have, kp0712?

1.00.05 (I think, maybe earlier) reduced the age for that trophy to 65. If you bought the game from LDW I'd upgrade if I were you.

I'm not sure how old my oldest peep was. She was three years older than her husband who was 67 when I opened the game to find she'd died. She might have reached 70, therefore.

My first older one was Chico, he was 65 and I got the trophy. It's a shame he got to live alone for that, as his wife had already passed and I just kept him going for the trophy. (evil evil girl I am!).

Later on I've got Lilella who was 65 when her husband died and I went to the next generation - I really liked her and was brokenhearted to see her sad like that.

I was going to ask how any of you knew how old your little peeps were when they died, but now I see several of you have already posted a request for that info to be added in an update. All my poor little dears have died in "our" sleep or when I was out of the house, even before I upgraded to .05. So, I've never known how old my oldest has been, and I suppose I never will. I had the 70 trophy on a few families before my upgrade and have the wise trophy on all families now. I'm disappointed if one of mine doesn't make it to 65 and feel like I did something wrong, like I didn't spend enough time training them right or something.

For what's it worth, I'll add that I would really, really like to have the age at death available on the family screen as well.

Initially, when you went into the game and they had died you could click on them and it would say "lying in repose" and it also told their age. I always put in the notes their age of death. After I upgraded it didn't show that anymore which was very disappointing. So I agree, it would be nice to have some indication of their age when they die.

My oldest was 66; however, I always got impatient for marriage and babies before and forced retirement. This was the first time I made myself let the person die in her own good time. (why does that last line sound so bad? lol)

My elsest so far has been 65. I was so surprised and quite upset at the time. All his specs were almost full up to the top and he was running around like a spring chicken celebrating his marriage after I gave him a bottle of the male aftershave. Talk about bad timing!

I had one make it to 67 but usually they hit 65 and Boom - that's it. No matter how well I've taken care of them... frown

I guess I'm lucky though, I rarely loose anyone before age 64 or 65.

All three people that died in my game were 63! I try to keep them alive as long as I can, but they just die in their early 60's anyway.

Updating mine to 69. BY my reckoning he can't have been much more than a couple of minutes away from 70. Sheesh talk about bad timing! grin

My Sarah Palin lookalike, Farrah, is 70 today. I'm keeping a close watch on her. Even though her health bar is maxed I know it won't be long.

My little Farrah died this evening between the age of 71 and 72. frown Here she was at lunchtime with completely full health and happiness bars.

Great genetics there for Farrah's kids. Lately my parents have
been dying younger, late 50's, early 60's. Still being a caring 'hand in the sky', but they seem intent on their own life.

gmomluvsvv, I buy every piece of fruit and vitamins that comes into the store. I keep one of each in the tooltray, and when a duplicate fruit or bottle of vitamins appears in the store I give it to the parent who's health bar is the lowest. By the time they reach a certain age they'll both have maxed out health bars. It tends to make them live from one to three years longer I believe.

Oh my goodness, I just cried for the first time from a death in a long time.. it is generation 4 of my Rainbows and for the first time I saw both the husband and wife die together.. it's such a sad but beautiful thing to witness.

They were any age from 64-66. Lived the longest from anyone in the Rainbow family! You can treat them like kings and queens and they still all have their time to go. frown

I'm sorry Lyssaria! I've had quite a few go together, and yes, it's hard to lose both at the same time.

I think we can help them to sometimes live a few extra years, but for the most part I think it's a random generator that decides when they go.

There isn't an actual number out yet, but the oldest I've seen was someone's peeps having a baby at 57 years old on the forum. It's very rare though, it starts getting very difficult to have children in the late 40's.

For those of you that have nothing to do on VF anymore, like me, then you start to keep track of things, right? Well, we've had many topics for VF threads, such as:

1: Comics
2: How many generations
3: Mods
4: Glitches
and 5: The family in general

... But the closest discussion we've had about the relative age of our peeps isn't even two pages.

So, I have a question for you:

How old is YOUR oldest Peep?

My oldest was at least 70 since I got the award, but I don't know exactly how old as she had died while the game was off so I was greeted by her deathbed scene when I reopened it. The same thing has happened in two families.

My oldest was 67, and probabally would have lived longer if I hadn't experimented on what anitibiotics can do to you if you're not sick (in the game). Most of my peeps die overnight though; I never see them go over to the bed.

I had never had anyone in this game live past 63 (and only 3 peeps lived to that age), and was starting to feel that the "Wise" trophy would always be unreacheable (I have the old version of VF where they need to get to 70, not 65).
The other day, though, I went to check on my families, who had been unpaused for some 7 VF years, and both members of a couple had died at 66! laugh I was so happy to see they'd lived so long compared to the others (I guess my peeps have a life expectancy of around 58 or 59 years). Now the goal of reaching the age of 70 seems much closer. smile

I'm looking at the screen shots and wonder why my VF game doesn't have the same looking rooms. Is there a different version of the game I can download so I can get my VF house to look this way? I'd love some upgrades. Thanks for any info.

The Mac/PC versions of the game can be altered with visual modifications (mods) which are created by forum users.

The forum where you can locate the mods is Virtual Families Mods, but remember to read the Installation Instructions first. smile

Even having upgraded to a newest version of the game since I last posted here (which did help a lot with the "reaching age 65" trophy, got that one only after 3 generations or so this time around), I still haven't managed to get peeps to live past 66 (I've had three of them die at age 66 over the 6-7 generations I've been playing this family).
All peeps in this family have lived to be at least 60, though (which is also an improvement from the older version - I had peeps die at ages 56-59 quite often back then).
