Seriously what is the point?

Once their is one child produced, is there any point in trying for more. I mean apart from getting the trophies, once they reach 18 they leave anyway, and you can only ever bring one back.

I suppose it increases the chances of bringing back a genius wage earner, but other than that?

It's all up to you! Personally I love to see the kids running around the house doing funny things, plus as you mentioned It gives you more options when it's time for the generation change.
Other than that, it's all about choices.

I guess what I expected to see is more than 2 bread winners.

Well I suppose the ‘point’ is that it’s called Virtual Families, that seems to suggest making a family...

Just like real people, why do we have more than one child? – surely our genes are passed on in that one and then we’re done?

The point is to do what you want and have fun!! Have as many kids as you feel is necessary, one, two, six, adopt some...

If you’re looking for a ‘point’, I think you’ve missed the point.

I don't think I have missed the point at all.

Ever seen the TV show Bread? Well that is a family based sitcom, and I suppose you could say Virtual.

They don't get kicked out when they are 18, they contribute to the family. I see no reason why I should have more than one child.

No need to be hostile though.

I agree with Nick. There really seems to be no point in more than one child. Unless it's ugly. laugh

I think it is up to the person just like in real life. Yes in real life some kids stick around. But as a parent I think we all want our kids to excel and leave home. Who wants to keep feeding them lol.

You need lots of kids to do the chores while the parents work!:D Pick up collectables trash & socks, pull weeds, take out the garbage, etc, etc. Thats what my folks did.

I had Nick's point of view also. I thought, when I started the game that all the children could remain at home (or at least that it might be an option) and contribute to the income of the family. Once I found out they couldn't and that only one could return, I was glad none of the five families had more than three children and decided future families might only have one child...

But now three of my five families have moved on to the second generation and I'm aiming for 6 kids in every family. Almost all of my second generation kids had low paying jobs that didn't seem likely to progress to anything approaching the income of their parents. And in all three of these games the second generation kids are (so far at least) real slackers when it comes to work. I haven't heard this many "nos" since Virtual Villagers.
