I'm not sure how the updates to this game is going to work. Will there only be updates when there are fixes to the game or will there be additional content that may be added from time to time and will we be able to download that free or will we have to pay for it? (whew! A long sentence)

Right now we are concentrating on fixes (which, in some cases, have altered the way that the game works). Updates can always be obtained the way that I described here, and are free to people who purchased the game from us.
