More than one child? Point?

Seriously what is the point?
Once their is one child produced, is there any point in trying for more. I mean apart from getting the trophies, once they reach 18 they leave anyway, and you can only ever bring one back.
I suppose it increases the chances of bringing back a genius wage earner, but other than that?

It's all up to you! Personally I love to see the kids running around the house doing funny things, plus as you mentioned It gives you more options when it's time for the generation change. Other than that, it's all about choices.

I don't think I have missed the point at all.
Ever seen the TV show Bread? Well that is a family based sitcom, and I suppose you could say Virtual.
They don't get kicked out when they are 18, they contribute to the family. I see no reason why I should have more than one child.
No need to be hostile though.

I think it is up to the person just like in real life. Yes in real life some kids stick around. But as a parent I think we all want our kids to excel and leave home. Who wants to keep feeding them lol.

You need lots of kids to do the chores while the parents work!:D Pick up collectables trash & socks, pull weeds, take out the garbage, etc, etc. Thats what my folks did.

I had Nick's point of view also. I thought, when I started the game that all the children could remain at home (or at least that it might be an option) and contribute to the income of the family. Once I found out they couldn't and that only one could return, I was glad none of the five families had more than three children and decided future families might only have one child...
But now three of my five families have moved on to the second generation and I'm aiming for 6 kids in every family. Almost all of my second generation kids had low paying jobs that didn't seem likely to progress to anything approaching the income of their parents. And in all three of these games the second generation kids are (so far at least) real slackers when it comes to work. I haven't heard this many "nos" since Virtual Villagers.

It's a lot more fun watching 3 - 6 kids run around doing naughty & good things. You have to praise & scold them, so x6 is a lot more busy. Plus you need more money to feed them until they are 18. Then there's 6 to choose from when you do pass it on. If you have one child that definitely doesn't want kids, the generation could stop.

I agree with many of the other posters. It's a lot more fun watching a whole bunch of kids run around than just the one. In addition, having a number of kids extends the period when there are kids there. Eventually they become teens and start doing boring things like homework and chatting online instead of digging a hole to China. Then, of course, they leave home around 18 until their parents have died. In addition, it seems a waste of five beds to have only one child.

I personally would want 6 kids in this game. I love kids and they do help out! Big families look like a lot of fun.
P.S I just got the game, like an hour ago so I'm still figuring it out. Like how to have more than one family...if that's possible..

I tend to agree with Nick and since the money is so hard to get anyway, it is best to only have once child. That way less food is eaten. There really is no point to having more than 1 child really as there aren't really any benefits besides a couple trophies. Seeing them play is one thing, but it doesn't add to the game really.

i had 3 original families, all now on the second generation. the family that had 5 kids actually STILL has less money than the other two, who had 3 each. they were able to accumulate money much faster as the careers progressed. i think eventually 6 kids would be fun, but until the rooms and everything is updated, i'm gonna stick with less, 3 tops if i can help it.

it's fun having all the 6 kids runnig around, gives the game more to do as you check on them, like who's been fed or is sick. and of course to do the chores. i finally got 6 games going so i could keep real busy at it. trying for 6 kids in each family,
where do i go for the update 1.02 i believe, do believe i need this. also where does the guide go? i downloaded and now can't find it. obviously not a compputer genius, but thought it would attach to the game somehow..........
