I am slowly migrating data over to a new server and trying to improve the internet statistics/leaderboard for Fish Tycoon. If you have been checking in lately and it seems like it is behaving wierdly--well it is!

I'll have it working well again within a week or so probably, and hopefully I'll have it working better than before soon.

At present I have purged all the old scores (I still have them all recorded and we might restore them, or the top ones at least).

Where is the leaderboard located these days? I have never seen it but tried the link to LDW left a while back and it said not available

LDW is in the process of moving their server, and not all functions are back online yet.

When that happens I am curious about something - Is there something built in to it that takes into consideration what difficulty level you play at?

i understand that the leader board may not be up but can someone please list the link to it for when it is up. i have searched the forum and website and cant seem to find it.

BTW Great game im soo addicted. i used to breed fish for a hobby and now i work at PetSmart but have been off for a few months since i had my son. so i really enjoy playing with fish again. even tho i have many aquariums at home you can never have to many believe me.

The leaderboard is back up, but it looks like people are still submitting bogus stats. It's accessible from the Fish Tycoon for Windows page on LDW's main website. Or you can just click here to go straight to the leaderboard!

Is that leaderboard for windows? How do the names get entered? Avg price of 704? is that really possible? Does it still need to get fixed?

The average price isnt what jumps out at you - A Billion plus dollars in 14 hours???? gimme a break! How is that entry even accomplished - setting the clock off by a decade or two?

Yes, the leaderboard is only for the Windows version of Fish Tycoon - the other versions don't have that capability. The scores are automatically uploaded to the server when a player clicks on the refresh button of the statistics screen in the game.

To be blunt about it, many of those scores are not possible without cheating. There has been a lot of discussion about that, some of it heated. You could easily find it by searching the Fish Tycoon forum, if you're interested. Arthur does clean up the stats, but there is a flood of them coming in at any given time. He is considering various ways to improve the situation.

Poor Arthur has his hands full and its a shame; I'm sure he's got better things to do than referee the cheaters. For every brilliant person who creates something for pleasure, there is someone equally brilliant with nothing better to do than figure out a way to mess it up. Nothing is safe in the virtual or real world.

Arthur did a great job but the cheats are back again. Number 1 and 2 in the list must be chats with figures like they have:-

Average selling price over 700???????? Why do people do this and spoil it for others.

I recall something the other day in the forums about how some people put their breeders in the sale tank, then jacked up the price so high - like to 1000 or 7000 or whatever, so that they wouldn't sell. Five minutes later, they click on the sell button and all the expensive ones that they thought wouldn't sell... gone. That might account for some of the high average prices.

With only 14 hours playing time.......I don't think so.....just a cheat.

I'm not saying that some of the scores aren't cheats. I'm just pointing out that there may be a reason for some of the oddly high average selling price in otherwise normal scores.

Those really really big numbers...I'm not convinced that's a normal exploit even. There was a very early version of the game where people could sell fish at any price using a trick...that has been fixed. But it would not explain those really insanely large numbers...to me that looks like a 'rolling over' of the score, as if perhaps the player managed to go into the negative with their earnings, and confused the game.

Arthur, don't you ever take any time off? But I guess your a very proud guy having a program like this. You do a fantastic job and I'm sure I speak for all the user...thanks very much. Forget about the cheats, they are the ones who are real losers.
