What exactly has been changed in version 1.00.02? I can't seem to find a version history anywhere.

Of course, they need to make a cell phone available in the store, so that we can buy it for our teens and get outrageous bills in our e-mail.

When you download the new "Try Now" version, it writes over your existing code with the updated code. It doesn't affect the progress you've made in VF so far, so your families will be intact. When the download is complete you can view the readme file, which has been updated to describe the latest software changes.

I just downloaded it and now I'm having problems getting them to clean up after a meal. Seems like most places that I try dropping them near it make them want to "Make coffee" (which they don't drink, btw) or "Make Grande Latte" (also don't drink -- so if those were intended to give them more energy, it's not working)or they think I want them to sit back down to eat again. I was finally able to get them to clean up after the meal, but I had to try around 10 times in different locations.

They also "stretch" now, and they do that waaaaay too much. They also "Make the bed" "Look for laundry" and they will do laundry on their own.

So far, I still think the new interactions are kind of fun, but I've only played one family with these new actions so I'll have to play more to know for sure if I like these changes better or not. I was really, really hoping for something that would help with energy and when I saw they were making coffee I thought that was going to be it, but they don't drink it afterwards no matter where you put them.

I saw one of my moms "making the children's beds" before the update, but one new one I've noticed is "hiding" behind the shed.

One of my kids just hid in the closet in the laundry room and disappeared

just go to where u bought it the first time and hit the try it button and it will download the newest version for u!

That is a good question. Are we really on 0.4, and if so, what are the updates in this version?

I like the fact that they are doing a lot more in the house... even the male are turning into regular stay-at-home-dads!

Oooh, I thought I was doing something wrong with the storybook, because it didn't seem to work for my peeps. I understand I'll have to try again now! Wonderful, I love reading to the kids!

I need help installing an updated version.

I tried to install from official site but a trojan was detected by my antivirus so I stopped installing.

Then I tried from another site, it was version 04
This one works but my families are not loaded.
I tried to put only the new .exe in the old folder, worked but families not loaded neither.
I suppose I have to put the "family files" into the new folder but I am not able to find it.


I am excited playing this game and my little boy who is 6 too !!
He is trying to learn english when reading status and actions, so funny, because he just learnt to read french (we are french)

LDW is the only place to get the game right now. Just re-download the trial version over your existing game if you are using windows version.

Where do you see what version you have loaded?

Everything I can find says v1 and I just did the "try it" upgrade and it is still showing v1??

Mappam, the download only uses part of the version number (it will show v_1.00 ). To see which version you actually have, install the download, open your game, go to the main menu, and look in the lower left hand corner (it will say something similar to 1.00.01 *or .02, etc*)

I have to applaud LDW people! That's what I call high standard of customer service! I haven't seen such a thing for a long time. Most game developers provide half-done beta quality products and once in a few months feed players with worthless patches and fixes.

I can only find a link to download the .02 version, has that same link been updated to the latest version? Also, are there updates being announced at all? I can never find them until people start asking questions or making comments on the new updates.

Are you using a Mac? If so, you'll need to send in a support ticket to get a new link.

If you're using Windows, download the trial version.

Dragoness, the link from LDW's site with automatically give you the newest update. Once you download, click on the menu screen look at the bottom right hand side for the complete version number.


Yes, isn't it great to have a company that respects its customers, listens to what they are saying and respond. LDW is one of the rare ones. I wish all businesses everywhere had the commitment and morals as the LDW team; life would be so much nicer.

As LadyCFII states here, the game is still in soft launch.

For a variety of reasons, sticky posts about updates will not happen until the final version is ready and the game is in general release. We won't be deleting discussion about the latest updates, but neither will there be announcements about version updates right now, stickied or not.

Here's a stupid question, where do you get the updated versions?

I agree with the others who say how great it is that LDW cares for every one of their customers . I find it very rare, but very nice at the same time .

I agree, Halidog, and it's not because I work with LDW now. When I first came to the forums several years ago, I was pleasantly shocked that the people who MADE the games actually talked to us! That's the main reason I stayed, and have loved it since.

Oh OK, I was just wondering if I was somehow missing the announcements. 5 little kids everyday (real, not virtual, only 3 are mine) will make you miss/forget things.

I do agree, I am so pleased that our voices are heard and solutions and updates are frequently implemented. A while back I purchased a game from another company (puppy luv or something like that) for my daughter. I never could install it and after 5 attempts at contacting customer service asking for a replacement I finally just gave up. They never once responded to me...oh and this was after a 45 minute search just to FIND a way to contact customer service.

After you update do you have to start NEW families to get the changes to take effect?

My "old" families have been All Day without a restock of the store. I have been playing most of the day.

I also was pleasantly surprised that the people that work here such as the Grand Arthur himself is a human being and actually chats a little with us lowly people. I've never seen that anywhere online and I've been playing games since Windows 95. Guess that's why I have lovely plants and families here and my own house is a mess....shhhh....lol

You can discourage your peeps from doing things by scolding them.

I've noticed that my cat seems a lot more independent ... it's not shadowing my teenager nearly as much as it did. Heh - *that's* familiar.

Ooooo, my virtual cat just scratched the coach. And even better my real cat was also scratching my real coach right at the same time. I've heard about cats being telephatic, but this is a bit too much..

Go to the main menu in the game and check the bottom left corner to see which version it is. If you downloaded it, did you run the installation?

The changes are automatic, so will be applied to your existing families

I found the new actions were all working straight away, and they are fun, but some of the tired & exhausted issues either needed some time, or a reboot. They didn't respond too well for me as soon as I downloaded the update, but after turning off my netbook and playing the next day they were going to bed a lot better.

They get hungry quicker now. Is anyone else experiencing this? And the food supplies seem to last longer, but you get a little less with each purchase. I think it was 200 units of non-organic & 300 of organic & now it's 150 & 250. Anyone else confirm this?

As it says in the 1.00.04 readme file:

So, yes there are changes in those areas, but the food quantity from groceries hasn't changed.

Thanks LadyCFII. I thought that had changed as I hadn't seen them make themselves breakfast before.

I hope the next update will 1: Make it so new moms can work and 2: Reduce the amount of time between baby makings. In the real world some people have a new baby every year. So there's no logical reason for the 3 "year" wait.

The .04 version really does a great job fixing the energy problem. I've been playing almost non-stop since installing it, and haven't seen exhaustion except when it's actually time for them to be exhausted. Yay!!!

Anyone having name trouble in the .04 version? I have 2 children with the same name, and I am not sure if I was reading correctly but I could have sworn one game told me that a certain child went to college, then came back and used the same name to tell me the father had gotten a promotion. This is "My" family, so the 1st gen are all named after my actual family (except Pepper,) The second gen family has named itself though.

The game will sometimes create peeps who have the same names, even within the same generation. You always have the option to rename them if you'd prefer different names.

The issue with the 'going to college' and 'promotion' messages is a bug that was accidentally introduced since 1.00.02, and we're looking at it.

I haven't seen any new actions with the dog yet. :-(
