I have looked everywhere in the game for a map button so that I'm able to see a complete overview of the game, but can't find one. Is there a map button and if there is, where is it?

I don't think there is one I'm afraid. But I have found, if you are using windows, you can use buttons 1 - 9 to quickly jump to other areas of the house

There is not an overview map, such as there was in the Virtual Villagers series, available for Virtual Families. If you're looking for a specific person, the fastest way to find them is to select them in the details screen and then return to the main screen. You can still use the numeric keys to zoom around the screen, however, and that can help, as well.
