Hmm, well I noticed they do take after their parents...my two girls have their mother's eye color and hair color.

My kids have random hair colors that don't really match their parents much. Eye colors don't look like they match either. It just looks random to me.

All my kids have like... a mix of their parents' hair color. The mother has dark brown hair and the dad has blonde hair; some of the kids have light brown hair and some have dark blonde hair.

I agree - my kids don't look like their parents at all. They kinda look like *each other*, in that they have the same hair color, but they don't "match" the parents.

I think you just have to look at the heads in the Images folder of the game. If you have 2 parents at different levels of the image, I think that means your kid could end up looking like any head between them---with a few deviant exceptions due to strange chance genetics.

My parents are circled in black. I had 2 girls with the big hair, 1 with the short hair, and the boy with glasses.

I also adopted 1 so she would not be part of genetics.

Is it just me or does the gal on the far left in the first red circled row (female) look like Michael Jackson?

Yeah mine look like a mix of their parents in one family (light brown hair + black hair = brown hair) and my other family has a red head and a blonde for parents and the kid came out blonde. In fact for the brown haired kids two of them ended up looking EXACTLY the same but with different clothes.
