I have been playing VS 1.0 for 383 hours. 12 tech levels completed, over 890,000 tech points, 6700 crabs caught, enough food to end world hunger, village population maxed out, 9 puzzles solved (all master builders have died and despite a shipwreck - my builder is merely adept). Have retrained all Doctors in an attempt to let natural selection cause the population to turn over faster.

157 villagers born and still no GC.

Do I need to train a Master Parent to breed a GC? To this point, I have been "spreading the joy" amongst a number of villagers. Getting bored of watching them do laundry, dance, and relax.

You don't need special parents. In v1.0 the GC won't be born as long as you are at the maximum population. Depending on your playing style (how much time the game spends 'off' vs 'on'), you might be waiting a while. I know of some people who have waited weeks.

That's one puzzle that has been 'tweaked' in the v1.1 update.

Yeah, that's my experience with v1.0. Sometimes it just takes too long for the GC to appear. And it's mighty frustrating too because you're at your max population, so GC can't be born as well. When someone died and you quickly breed a female and hope that the GC will be born and then you're disappointed again! Uurrgghhh!

But when GC appears, you really celebrate! Hahaha!

Bkk, why don't you try v1.1? Much more easier to play. v1.0 is a bit more tough. You could challenge v1.0 when you become adept in v1.1!

Some people want to finish their v1.0 game first, since v1.1 will erase their v1.0 savegame and make them start over.

I guess if you are at the very beginning stage of your game, it is probably easier to let go of it and start all over on v1.1. Sorry Bkk, I forgot that you are already more than halfway thru.

OK so if I understand correctly: I have been wasting my time trying to breed kids, develop a master parent and get a GC....what I really need to do is get a bunch of scientists and save up tech points!?! (Glad I read this spoiler, I was getting frustrated)

One more thing....how will I know when I get a GC? Does a little sign pop up as soon as s/he's born? Do I have to wait til s/he's done nursing to find out? Or do I get no warning, s/he just never ages?

My problem is that my GC seems to be stuck at age 5 for like 4 days now. How do I get him to age up? He does nothing as a child. Whats supposed to happen after the GC is born?
