Just a way for them not to do the work they need to do. Cute and all, but a waist of time. :c)

I thought it's useless as well back when I was playing v1.0. But it seems that it's necessary for them to stay healthy. I guess wearing dirty clothings for a long period of time can cause serious health issues on the island too like in the real world!

That could be, but I have found no correlation to that. After I have completed all the puzzles, I just let them do their thing. There is a lot of laundry being done, and I have not seen any less illnesses. I could be wrong. Maybe I need to hire Berkley to do a study on it.

Warren, I can't remember where I have read about it. I didn't find it out myself, I think. May be the LDW team can clarify on this matter.

I remember it being discussed, but I do not think we have any Offical word. Now is the time for LDW to come "clean" on the issue.

Hm laundry. That's a good question. The villagers' behavior is based on human needs and motivations. A lot of the fun of creating this game was that they do things that I didn't exactly expect (and certainly never when I expect).

I guess I did not answer anything. Let me put it this way: There are important things and less important things for them to do. When the important things are in control, they tend to do less important (recreational, relaxing, etc) things. If your villagers seem to be doing useless stuff or goofing around, it might mean that you are doing a great job.

So Arthur, does it mean that if we don't let them do laundry, nobody is gonna get ill or die from being unhygienic?!

In the real world, personal hygience is a HUGE issue, esp. in places where HFMD (Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease) is spreading like bush fire.
